Re: Naval LCA - News and Discussion

The IN said so,doesn't meet the grade and dumped it. Officially. They didn't dump NLCA. IN never said MK2 does not meet their requirement. I guess you have been on BRF for quite a long time. You should be able to see yourself easily through the cheap MSM sensationalization and paid media hit jobs i...

Re: India's R&D in Defence DRDO, PSUs and Private Sector

Since having the numbers and the knowledge base to internalize DE sub building are both equally important...why does IN/GoI allow the sub force to languish on both respects? What is preventing us from immediately plugging gaps in AIP DE number gaps vis a vis China. Assuming we need 30 SSKs, it seems...

Re: Indian Naval Aviation

[quote="brar_w"]@GhalibKabir While certain capability would be controlled as is even for other allies like Australia, Great Britain and Norway, the IN would have gotten the capability it was specified/promised and/or evaluated which would have met or exceeded its requirements in this domai...

Re: LCA: News & Discussions - October 2016

Yaa, Let IAF and IN order the FA-18 That is actually the AMCA-lite for you right there. Same two engines, same engine placement, same same everything including possibly the size of the jet. Just added stealth and 5th gen sensor fusion and AESA and a dabba in the bottom to hold 4 mijjiles or LGBums ...

Re: Indian Naval Aviation

A quick question on the P-8 APY-10 radar. If the ISAR mode, high end SAR modes are not available to us, how can P-8 find subs and signatures of diff ships? does the APS-143 telephonics aft radar on our P-8s still have the ISAR and SAR mode? and does it compensate reasonably for the absence of the sa...

Re: LCA: News & Discussions - October 2016

Can't we do this screwdriver giri for the medium segment where we don't impede our own product? Get the F18/f35 Point taken...this could happen if SH-18 is chosen for the 57 jet IN need.. we might also see land based F-18s also and this could eventually lead to a F-35 deal if AMCA does not shape up...

Re: Indian Navy News & Discussion - 15 Dec 2016

Fellow BRFites, Why does IN want a CATOBAR straight after Vikrant? why cant' India first build another IAC 2 which will be a Vikrant replica. ( i get payload issues etc.. but the point is to have enough assets first even if it means relying on Mig 29s?) This would ensure there 2 aircraft carriers ar...

Re: LCA: News & Discussions - October 2016

Hasn't the announcement been made that all future F-16s will be made in the USA onlee I think some sort of screw driver giri F-16 assembly is what will happen under a trump deal eventually. 50 odd F-16s off the shelf as a sop to him (with a decent story for him sell a 'domestic jobs' triumph on sid...

Re: Indian Naval Aviation

Can any one please share the current situation of ASW S-70B deal? I know we are stuck on price negotiations for 16+8 S-70... considering we need nearly 4-5 times that number... what is a realistic timeline factoring in our babudom's penchant to trip RM/MoD as much as possible... i would have thought...

Re: 'Make in India' Single engined fighter

The scenario that @rohitvats has lined out seems the most plausible one to me. most likely we will have an arrangement resembling but not same as the one we have for the MiGs and the Su-30 MKI. We will do what could admittedly be F-16 assembly giri of CKDs initially moving to SKDs later. (not nice b...

Re: Indian Navy News & Discussion - 15 Dec 2016

my bad, it is a STOBAR, regret the error. @Philip, any idea when domestic SSNs might start getting constructed? 2023-4 for commissioning of the first boat seems optimistic to me I for one feel disappointed that India did not internalize the Type 209 construction and related ToT in the 1980s. Instea...

Re: Indian Navy News & Discussion - 15 Dec 2016

Fair Enough. The SSNs will be taxed way more than the SSBNs with rapid ramping up and ramping down of power in their hunting roles concurrent with severe stresses from diving frequently and quickly. I wonder what sort of reactor BARC has designed for the SSN. Even the Arihant class is kinda underpow...

For what it is worth, looks like the first PLAN CATOBAR 001A type could get commissioned ahead of the INS Vikrant.. it is 300 m long https://www.google.com.sg/maps/place/Dalian+Shipbuilding+Industry+Co.,+Ltd.+%EF%BC%88Northeast+to+Dalian+Municipal+Management+Office+Xigang+Management+Office%EF%BC%89,...
