Re: 2020 Strategic and Political Analysis-1

vijayk » Agree with you 100%! We need to confront this menace the smart way. The dumb way is to do something which the EJ's/BIF/WaPo mafia can exploit. I believe there were WaPo and other media articles and opinion pieces when RundyTV owner was offloaded from a departing flight for economic issues....

Re: BRF Jirga Princeton, NJ SATURDAY APRIL 28 2018

I was really excited to hear about this Jirga (wouldn't have occurred to me to call it a Jirga, though!) I have been looking forward to a discussion group just like this for awhile, and was really appreciative of the discussion and insights. There is nothing like a live discussion. I would like to o...

Re: Indian Roads Thread

I have stopped driving while on trips to India in recent years. Local drivers, whether they are employee-drivers or relatives all don't seem to know how to drive on multi-lane roads. Drivers seem to think that a wide, multi-lane road just means they can drive anywhere on it, with most driving in the...

Re: Civil Aviation Development & Discussion

Certification of civil aircraft has been a big issue for similar attempts by the Russians and Japanese. The Chinese have long sought help from the FAA and EASA for certification of the C919, which has been a problem for non-western airframers. The C919 has avionics and engines from western suppliers...

Re: Indian Economy News & Discussion - Nov 27 2017

All this debate over tax collections, formal vs informal sectors etc is due to the persistence of the cash economy, and the creativeness of businesses (traders) in avoiding any form of accountability. Every business that has a license must be required to report every employee they have on their payr...

Re: LCA: News & Discussions: 15 August 2017

Here is my two cents worth of knowledge. You all know that composite prepreg (CFRP) comes in sheet/fabric, tape forms of varying width. For relatively flat or slightly contoured structure such as wing skins, tape or fabric is used; tape of machine layup and fabric for hand layup. For highly contoure...

Re: LCA: News & Discussions: 15 August 2017

My questions for the stalwarts here is on materials and manufacturing technologies. Do we import the composite tape/fiber? if so, are there any ongoing efforts to make these in India. How does the tape/fiber compare with the latest used for commercial or military aircraft? Are we using tape or fiber...
