Syed, You are implying that Babar is primarily a strategic weapon. It will then raise the threshold of nuclear war (or blackmail of nuclear war) and thus ensure Pakistan's security from a conventionally superior India. It also means that Pakistan will have to either rely more on cruise missiles as i...

The upcoming exercise will afford Indian controllers an opportunity to be present as Observers on board an AWACS platform to be fielded by the French -- an E2C 'Sentry' shall be part of the French contingent to the exercise. That should read as E-3C 'Sentry'. The E-2 is the Hawkeye. If this is true...

The only consideration should be the reccommendation by the IN. The IN has said it should be the Scorpene and then why should the idiots in the defence and finance ministry second guess the navy's decision? There will be no submarine deal this year because of the Rs.10,000 Cr. CAPEX cut, and I doubt...

AlokN, Thanks. What I was hinting at was - The process of refining U235 from U238 (using centrifuges with SF6) takes a great deal of time. Despite Pakistan's progress in centrifuge development, it seems this process is painstakingly long and may not yeild sufficient enrichment. Thus, how many kilogr...

I wonder how things would have turned out different if Xerox Khan was selling nuclear weapons technology to Columbia, Venezuela and Mexico?
I don't think the US has understood the full implications of this yet and still sees it as unexpected consequence of blowback.

Don't jump the gun here. Unkil is no fool. He has the keys to TSP nukes and says to the RATS - you can only have them, IFF you plan to use them on India. This way India is checkmated. What is the difference between an ATC radar and an AD radar in India? The differences are the following: Civilan ATC radar is primarily surveillance radar whereas AD radar, as Jagan pointed out, is tied into anti-aircraft SAMs and used to vector interceptor fighter aircraft. Another important disti...

Yes. I understand Jane's has data available, but collating the information makes it too easy for the enemy. I would suspect that BEL has probably modidified transmission characteristics of the different radar systems, just in case to make systems more effective against counter measures. Its not a ma...

I don't see any role for Bangladesh or Pak as they were created as Islamic states. They say so formally in their constitution. Lets clear some things up. This may be obvious, but, before an 8000-mile range ICBM can be fielded the economies of scale comes into effect. I don't see it happening until India's GDP crosses the $1 trillion mark and that will take more than decade at present rates. And when that day comes, the US w...

NDTV says that it was a spontaneous decision reflecting the confidence of the GoI in the military and defense research establishment. NDTV also says it was a mobile launcher and probably a variant or refinement of some sort of the A-II.

Re: Can India re-Value the Rupee?
A few years back, the Wall Street Journal had an article on its front page saying that the biggest threat to the Indian currency is that huge staple they put in it. It tends to rip most notes and only the skillful can remove the staple without destroying a few notes.
