Re: IAF at Red Flag / Nellis AFB 2008
ranganathan - I'm sure you can post a reply with a tad more civility. when I stated: Paki ground based defences are probably the most formidable kind in their inventory I meant that their ground based air defenses are the most formidable in their inventory, i.e. a greater threat than their F-16's, M...

Re: IAF at Red Flag / Nellis AFB 2008
Snooping suspiscions aside, if I were the IAF, I would be more concerned about the MKI's perceived vulnerability to SAM's albeit in the case of RF, they were not permitted to use active countermeasures. That being said, I am not sure how effective chaff and flares would have been against multiple SA...

Re: IAF at Red Flag / Nellis AFB 2008

:( I am actually quite dissapointed by this development. Even with satellite surveillance, I think it is still necessary to maintain at least a minimal level of high altitude aerial surveillance capability. What if the GOI needs an assessment of a developing situation in Pakistan urgently. Can a spy...

Yup. Shankars versions are too far removed from reality to be mixed up with the old one imho. But some folks like it that way, so split the two. Yeah, I agree as well. I wonder if admins could take all of Shankar's posts from the past onwards on this thread and combine it into one of his very own. ...

I think F-16's always fly with wingtip AIM-9's or inert sidewinder lookalikes for ballast/aerodynamic reasons to provide stability. I beleve the Tejas carries a pair of R-60's for the same reason. Shankar, first of all, I must say you are doing a very commendable job with all the action. However I must nitpick at the aerial combat. 1. The Pakis would not send their F-16's with just sidewinders, knowing full well they will be facing an adversary armed with BVR missiles such as the R-27's and R...
