Re: Military Acquisitions, Partnerships & Developments

Armed forces have to be reined in so that India does not go bankrupt buying all their shiny new toys. Make Arjuns, LCA, Shivaliks and forget Rafales, Talwars and tincans. Introduce competition in defence research by supporting other capable entities (Kalyani, Midhani, Taneja, L&T, Tata, etc.) to...

We need to push TOI to correct the facts published by Rajat Pandit. BRF should set up a team of 2-3 to rebut and post an article to TOI editors and ask them to retract incorrect figures deliberately published by lifafa journallists.

ParGha - that is a good story but what is its relevance in the Arjun thread? You acknowledge that you're comparing apples to oranges. It would be interesting though if you presented a table with capabilities of the Gen 1 Jap Heavy Tank and Gen 2 of the Jap light tank. I hope that when history of tan...

Kashi- totally agree!! It is ok to like a family of products from one source. But to advocate the subjugation of sovereign foreign policy for those products is shameful or even worse. It is surprising this line of thinking has survived on BRF for so long.

Re: MBT Arjun - News and Discussions

Vidurji, You highlight valid points. Let us take a look at these one by one. 1. Arjun MK1 is heavier than T90 Like it has been pointed out, a tank to fight the M1A1 was asked for. Capabilities were specified and all of these added up to give it the weight it has. BUT, and this needs to be understood...

Actually to have economies of scale the minimum order should be twelve ships. Only US,China and perhaps Japan have the naval budget to procure large no of surface combatants in that scale. IN can do that and span it over two decades in which case you end up get stuck with building an outdated desig...

It is painful to see the hoops that IA is making Arjun jump through. As part of the weight reduction effort, CVRDE has floated a tender to build the wheels and rims out of composites.
