shiv: Do not know about others, but at least for me the major :( :( point is the lack of specialized equipment; the absence puts the lives in danger. Re: Pathankot AirForce base under attack

One thing I observe is that escalation of specs. You do not the obstacle climbing capability of the Mars rover to pick up a dead jehadi. More general, in the sieges IA has with the jehadis in J&K, quite often it is in a populated area with the jehadis hole up in some home. Very motorable. Simila...

Singha: The point was that you can use standard off the shelf components to create effective systems without being "super-duper", "star wars" ityadi. Nor do you need a lot of man-power. DRDO/BEL et al have enough experience ruggedizing equipment. Quite frankly, its not that hard....

Re: Pathankot AirForce base under attack

This advocacy for some super duper perimeter security everywhere is just flat out stupid from any perspective: manpower or financial. You can stop the casual low cost attacks. Pakistan throws proper well trained soldiers at us. What exactly is your definition of super-duper? A $5K robot which can b...

RoyG, taking a leaf from Bajirao, hitting PA is core of Pak state and that will bring down Pak sultanate. Vikrams, NSA is just shadows. Wont hurt core state. Re: India's Retaliation Options to significant terrorist str

India can specifically target the leaders & infra of the Non State Actors. You can not destroy the infra but at least make a point and increase the cost. The challenge is that TSP will retaliate by targeting Indian leaders, political or military. I am not sure however that the Indian decision ma...

Re: Pathankot AirForce base under attack

The loss of life of the NSG officer due to booby-trapped body of the Tango is again an completely avoidable loss. There is absolutely no reason not to have small robotic vehicles to check out the body first and drag it around before exposing the officer. It is not a question of money or capability, ...

Re: Pathankot AirForce base under attack

My sense is that the good guy casualties likely resulted from explosive attack (grenade or mortars) and not bullets. From the point of view of the tango, launching an explosive via a grenade launcher allows shoot and scoot tactics which can prolong the engagement. What I find shocking is that when e...
