Re: Military Flight Safety
For the experts to examine and decipher, but this is what I gather about the backup power of Tejas that was probably utilized after possible engine power for its post-ejection flight. It's Emergency power Unit (EPU), not APU. See p. 13 for a schematic. ... 18. Engine Behaviour and Relight Considerat...

Re: Military Flight Safety
Antonym of inhabited is uninhabited, not habited! We do not know at what stage the engine failed and the status of the landing gear at that stage. The crash site is about 2.5-3.0 km from the airport and I guess that the pilot would not have had much reaction time (2-3 min?) and minimum recovery heig...

As per the above video, HSTT is not deemed required and his sources indicate the first flight on March 18, ie next Monday. The Mk1As flying currently are 'rigged' versions, not the built-up from scratch Mk1As that are ordered.

Nothing surprising and, 'probably', issue are s/w related. The HAL MD said in Oct that only 3-4 subsystems were pending for certification. We have to be very careful about the ASQRs that may be given for the 5th gen a/c now. Like in case of Arjun, we may later find that the PAF's runways are not designed to operate our a/c later and it will lead to loss of a lot of money.

I don't think I'll be spared for saying this but it is understandable that waiting for the TOT acceptance for GE-F414 by Senate was a good idea. We lost a year in R&D (and HAL could have funded from its internal funds like it did earlier), but I am quite sure GoI forced 97+ Mk1A using the delay,...

Just a muse here. If I remember correctly, the trainers are still Mk1 FOC standard. If the new order of 97 is also for replacement of Jaguars, then it would be nice if we can develop a Mk1a version of two-seaters optimised for ground attack. It's already a top performer for ground attack. What more...
