Re: Road to the 2024 Elections in India-1

In many PSUs, banks, even Railways and Post there used to be a board on which Hindi word for the day was written with English and local language equivalent and couple of example sentences of correct use. Those were the days of national integration, anek se ek animations and miley sur 😁 Net net there...

Re: Road to the 2024 Elections in India-1

I don't know if there is a Sanskrit prachar sabha on the lines of Hindi prachar sabha, we need to have one. Also I remember that Hindi usage was strongly encouraged but not imposed in all Central Govt departments, PSUs and institutes. If one passed Hindi exams it could be a plus in career mobility a...

Bollywood Hindi is a mongrel language. Not shuddh Hindi of RDS Dinakar or S Pant or MS Gupt or M Chaturvedi . In my Arya samaj school in Hyderabad which was AP state syllabus in English medium, we also learnt Telugu, Hindi as part of syllabus but there was no imposition of Hindi. Idem in any mission...

The dry northern areas on the edge of Sahara are composed of nomadic and semi nomadic tribes, mostly Muslim. The tropical southern parts are inhabited by more sedentary people who depend on forest produce, or slash n burn farming, and over the past few centuries they became slaves shipped away or co...

Example: Macron has reportedly said in Brussels or Sweden last week that he puts the French nuclear deterrent at the service of Eu interests. It's a HUGE statement and a policy bombshell. Re: India-EU News & Analysis

For a long time I was hoping that there is a kind of deep state and a few thinking heads in the French establishment that goes beyond the govt of the day and maintains policy continuity at least on strategic matters. That belief is hanging by a thread now. There is nothing that can prevent the curre...

This doesn't mean that the state department hasn't tried to link the two issues, may be they did but lost out to DoD.

There have been umpteen instances where SD and DoD weren't aligned wrt relations with India.

Many commentators like Col MacGregor, Scott Ritter et al have repeatedly made comments that the Oct 7 attack by Hamas was either justified or that Israel has cooked up evidence, they routinely take Hamas numbers at face value and make a show of defending civilians. The minority attitude reminds me of Sri Krishna's diplomatic mediation episode of Mahabharatam. The Kauravas, drunk with the illusion of their own power and invincibility, refused to consider a treaty by just ceding 5 villages. And we know what happened after.

Adharmi is as adharmi does.

Seems a few dozen French Foreign Legion soldiers were killed when Russia struck a hotel in Kharkiv few days ago.

Conflicting statements from French def min, foreign minister, Macron. In the end no one really cares for hired soldiers whose body bags don't come home.
