Re: Terroristan - March 31, 2022

With Imran's banned PTI candidates still getting 105 votes, with no street campaigns, no election symbol, no PM candidate, it points to how much anger there is towards the PA and disillusionment with the other parties. Their economic survival is now solely dependent on Chinese largesse, and as the C...

Re: Terroristan - March 31, 2022

It is a sign of the times that this thread doesn't even report the news of the formation of a coalition government in Pakistan. Truly Pakistan has vanished from most Indians' consciousness, to be remembered only during a cricket match or a terrorist attack.

https://youtu.be/meJItedDm2Y?feature=shared A look at the interplay between population decline and economic downturn. What I found interesting is the almost perfect storm of factors that underpinned population decline - (a) lack of accounting for already declining fertility rate in the 1970s even b...

Re: Chinese Armed Forces: News & Discussion

My main takeaways from the interview were: 1. The PLA's written doctrine explicitly states that their BRI infrastructure is dual use. With caneristerized missiles on warships, that eliminates the disadvantage of their lack of military bases and poses a great challenge to the US (and of course, India...

Re: Challenge of China_ Political, Economic & Military Responses

I have a question for long time China watchers like SSridhar, RaviB, Ricky_v et al. Why does the CCCP eliminate all traces of existence (on line profile, photographs, meeting records, news items) of public persona who have fallen out of favor with them? Surely they can't be worried about investigati...

Re: Russian-Ukrainian War: Combat Tactics & Strategy

Will future conflicts always be a neat two-party conflict where escalations can be carefully calibrated? If the locally superior power (India wrt Pak, or China wrt India) feels trapped in a two-front confrontation (India between China and Pak, or China between India and US+Japan), the decision-maki...

1. In the unlikely scenario of a direct conflict, the stronger power (India wrt Pakistan, and China wrt India) will be racing against time to take out the enemy's First Strike capabilities to reduce the impact of a nuclear escalation. Deep-strike and ASAT are Day-0 missions. And China has the addit...

Perhaps the real value of manufacturing in India is not the elusive ToT, but MRO opportunities that can bridge the gap between our budgetary constraints and and defense needs. Not to mention how being integrated into a global supply chain is a sticky glue for political alignments.
