Re: INS Arihant (ATV) News and Discussion -2

dinesha,

That DH report is factually incorrect on that point. NPCIL's job is exactly as stated by JTull. There are reasons to believe him rather than the report and I can independently confirm what he has said is correct.

Re: Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw passes away

 Old soldiers never die.... they just go to that great Mess house in the Sky. Here is a documentary on Sam Bahadur, taken in 2003 under UNESCO and Parzor Foundation auspices (47 min length) by Jessica Gupta and his grandson, Jehan Manekshaw on occasion of his 90th birthday. http://www.unescopa...

2. Why allow an ex KGB man into Dhruva and Cirus? Vladimir Putin is seen standing in BARC with D and C in the background and AK and RC flanking him. Russia gave fuel for Tarapur not for D & C. Why not? Is it not as if he was on a magnifying-glass mission. He was visiting as a head of state of a...

geeth, Dabhol and 123 cannot be compared. Even on strawman basis. There was something very wrong with Dabhol. OTOH, all points on 123 have been clarified. If we do not have the guts to follow the example of previous GoI decisions then the joke is upon us and not current GoI or GOTUS. Ratan Tata is a...

ramana, That is precisely the sort of thing GoI doesn't want to spell out. Not because it cannot but because it will hurt the plans. And that is precisely what China - through commies - is trying to get a blade to. MMS & PM have already given assurances but is the opposition (mainly commies) goi...

sraj, Useful calculations. I do not see any flaw as such but here is what I have to say. 1. Areva et al will put up costs that includes license fees in addition to construction costs. So, the ratio would have been applicable if we were to import a reproc facility. If we are going to setup our own - ...

Local players idling vs. local players as agents of outsiders driving are two diff things. It is expected to be more like local players being freelancers guided by DAE in a loose manner. So, they can be leveraged for all kinds of stuff. Sort of like design houses. Not very clear what you mean by ag...

Next step is to impose the 123 agreement on all the NWS states. Make them split all their programs between military and civilian. One of the goals J18 never achieved. Also, I would like the 'civilian' side in India to rally around DAE. Even if Ratan Tata ties up with the French, I would like DAE to...

Dr A.N. Prasad had talked about the costs of building a new reprocessing facility as required by this 123 agreement. Would our capital costs for a new facility also be in the $20 billion range? What does that do to the economics of power generation from this imported fuel? I cannot quote numbers bu...

NRao, My honest opinion is that to a certain extent AK too was employing a strategy. He is a technocrat but even a technocrat needs to do what is required for upholding the supreme national interest. The idea of US being blackmailed by TSP is funny. All US has to do is talk to gola and point a finger at his son in US. As for non-state actors, US has much to lose by succumbing to the fear of a paltry 1-2 dirty bombs.
