Re: MRCA News and Discussion

f-16.net has plenty of discussion of f-16 vs typhoon (with the typhoon coming up best in the A-to-A role...the discussions have links to various articles over the years). The MKI went head to head against the Typhoon in Indradhanush 2007 (admittedly without thrust vectoring or the NIIP radar in use)...

Re: MRCA News and Discussion

When all is said and done....the MMRCA winner should be able to take on the best the Pak/PRC airforce can throw at us. It seems that the Typhoon is the only one that can beat the F-16 in air-to-air and at least be equal to the SU-27. While lifecycle costs are important, it makes no sense to spend bi...

The border analysis link is a must-see!! Amazing - the stuff you can pull off the internet. Now, imagine, the more detailed view you can get from a CARTOSAT or similar satellite. If I remember correctly, we did make an attempt (or perhaps several attempts) to take 5353 and suffered casualties (inclu...

There are no particular concentration of Muslims outside of very small pockets in the tri-state area. A certain area near Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, is starting to have a large Arab population. A few neighborhoods here and there in Bronx, and Queens have a concentration of Bangladeshis. Otherwise, the Mus...

Re: India to send 120,000 troops to Afghanistan

I hope this is a joke. It only makes sense if IA uses Afghanistan as a launching pad for a 'second front' (or 'third front' if IA brigade lands at Gwadar) in the event of war. Else, every Jihadi above the age of 5 will be hot-footing it to Afghanistan and it will become our second Sri Lanka.

Re: IAF at Red Flag / Nellis AFB 2008

I wonder why the IAF did not know about the 'stall' weakness. We have had the MKI for some time now and it must have done hundreds of hours in air combat training against Mirages/21s/27s. The weakness should have been picked up earlier. Is it because the rookies didn't get a chance to learn that bef...

I, for one, am happy that the Sukhoi's got their brains "drilled" in training. I suspect that TACDE is already working hard at countermeasures. What was most interesting about the transcript was the discussion on AESA. Until now, I had always heard of the supremacy of AESA over all radars ...

I had no idea that JaKLI did the Malkhamb !! However, its great news if this exercise permeates to all the regiments from the Marathas. A combination of strength and flexibility, in my opinion, is far better than the upper body musculature that US army tends to favor.

Rich is correct to a large extent. In my opinion, the primary mission of the IAF would be to attack the air defences, command & control hubs and the nuclear option (centered around Ghauri and copycat missiles and the F-16s). The missions would center around neutralizing PAF air bases to damage o...

A reason for the fast recovery and lack of structural damage to the mission building was a new security barrier put up by India last week after intelligence inputs indicated a major attack. The hexa-barrier, a thick wire mesh-and-mud barrier covering the embassy on all sides, absorbed the major imp...
