Re: Indian Health Care Industry

From my limited vision, I can clearly see municipal hospitals in Mumbai being waaay ahead. Muncipal hospitals in Mumbai way ahead of what ? The NHS ? A visit to one of the better hospitals , say JJ, may be instructive. If, and it is a big if, a part of the profits from providing surgeries to wester...

Re: Shaping Reality: India vs. China

Well, we had a nice discussion (in one of the threads recently) about Indians not complaining or withstanding to what they think is wrong…….conveniently assuming that nothing will happen……but BRFites showed “proofs” to contrary that complaining works……so here I go…….nothing personal against anybody...

Re: Shaping Reality: India vs. China

The failure of indian rulers to recognize an external existential threat and band together to defeat it is a consistent theme in the last thousand years. In the 11th century the plains were repeatedly raided by afghan raiders entering through the north-estern passes, yet there is no recorded attempt...

Re: Shaping Reality: India vs. China

For the chinese life is unthinkable without pork. Plus there is an austerity at the heart of islam which is incompatible with the chinese approach. The mainstay of the balkan economy was pig farming. There is a mythical story that during russia's conversion to christianity, there were islamic schola...

Re: Shaping Reality: India vs. China

So basically, the east is being subsidized at the cost of the west and central region.
This is also the case for industrial raw materials , produced by the western and colonial provinces, consumed by coastal provinces)and a major complaint (one among many) for XinJiang [Sinkiang].

Re: Shaping Reality: India vs. China

One 'cultural' trait conducive to corruption is that of guanxi. Meaning, a 'personal' relationship with a customer, etc.
It is often done with the help of little book with lots of mobile numbers.....

Re: Shaping Reality: India vs. China

Corruption in China is many times higher than in India. For one thing, there is no codified civil law governing commerce. It is made up in each province, even perhaps in each SEZ as they go along. This, as can be imagined leads to unprecedented opportunities to steal for the people in charge. So why...

Re: Shaping Reality: India vs. China

China is actually a good example where the 'true' picture doesnt matter if you can provide - electricity - efficient ports - good road & rail network - hard working labour in endless numbers. India is finally starting to get some momentum on all these fronts, Exactly. We are moving on this, but...

Re: Shaping Reality: India vs. China

it is what it is Image building is an exercise in the opposite , is'nt it ? Delhi is, perhaps marginally better than Bombay, but it pales in comparison to Shanghai / beiing in presenting itself as a capital of a rapidly developing country. Trust me, a visit to Shanghai/Beijing for an Indian who gre...

Re: Shaping Reality: India vs. China

Compare the drive from the airport to your hotel after you land in Beijing/Shanghai to what you experience in Bombay/Delhi. We need our major cities to be world class, this is what a visiting ceo / journalist sees. Our cities look and feel like the worst third world cities. I know this has been disc...
