Re: IRNSS Launch and Discussions

The US can selectively shut off or offset the signals in any particular part of the world if they so desire. In the Indo-Pak war / context they can do so to save their Paki munnas. This is why an Indian system is important for military purposes. Don't see it being used much in the civilian context u...

I agree completely. Too many arm chair generals on this forum who think they know better than the real generals. Add to that the fact that Iran can pretty much shut down the Straits of Hormuz by targetting shipping passing through there resulting in skyrocketing shipping insurance and oil over $200 a barrel which will send the already shaky world economy into a tail spin.

What is worse is that that IAF is now wary of using the helicopters after loosing two pilots in a crash due the cyclic saturation problem which has yet to be addressed and seems to have been swept under the carpet by HAL.

Saab still needs Uncle's permission to offer TOT for the engine and that is by no means certain. Given all the foot dragging over the LCA consultancy I wonder how much the US will allow especially if the F-18 loses.

Kinda true, but at present, the X-band solid state tech is too challenging for a lot of countries, which is why they are still using L-bands, which makes the radar larger and more cumbersome... L-band is not really a breakthrough - it is a backup in absence of X-band tech. F22 and F35 are optimized...

It stands out in the distance so visual ID is possible and feasible. That could be its weakest link in a large air-to-air engagement.
If it can outrun you and out maneuvere you, visually IDing it isnt going to be of much use.

At this stage of aeronautical development the biggest weakness is in engines. F-22s dont use towed decoys. Wouldnt be a stealth aircraft anymore. There are accounts of F-15 pilots being able to see the F-22 visually but not seeing it on their radar screens. If an F-15 radar cannot see it there is no way a small radar on the missile would see it.

Singha saab, think of other ways. There is this thing called GAGAN that does something relevant here in terms of surveyed coordinates of launch site and target datum for BrahMos INS to do its magic.
GAGAN is GPS augmented signal. So if there is no GPS signal there is no GAGAN.

Dar was dismissive of Gen Musharraf’s “enlightened moderation” and said that the phrase was coined by Dr Henry Kissinger and his consultancy company had been paid $50,000 for those two words.
The Pukes must have a lot of money to pay that criminal Kissinger $50,000 for two words.
