The estimates are for different reservoirs (I think 3 different reservoirs) all in the Dirubhai field. All these reservoirs together total 8.7 TCF (proved + probable + possible) according to the independent consultant (my previous post was incorrect on this). Reliance claims reserves in these reserv...

42 TCF is probably Reliance's estimate of "possible" reserves. Reserves are split into 3 (with decreasing probablity): Proven Probable Possible Note: the independent estimate of "proven" reserves is still 8.7 TCF, but Reliance keeps putting out the 14TCF figure. India's annual ga...

thanks Calvin, I'll stick to my wariness of clean-coal. I think China probably has political reasons to push this as well. On Natural Gas to Liquids I believe its going to hit the big time this decade. ChevronTexaco and Sasol are building a large GTL plant in Nigeria which will comission next year. ...

Calvin, Do you have any references for power generation from coal gasification in China. I googled around and all the articles I find are related to gasification for GTL, specifically the Shell Middle Distillate process and some for Ammonia production. For instance see: http://www.clean-energy.us/ne...

If I understand this correctly the amount of gas to be transported is 2.5 Million Tons/year. If my math is correct, this is equivalent to 450MMSCFD (million standard cubic feet per day). - 1MTPA LNG = 48.7 Billion SCF gas (http://www.indialpg.com/html/conversion.htm) hence: 2.5 MTPA LNG ~ 335 MMSCF...

Some confusion over GSPC strike

I think some news outlets are confused over units with regard to the GSPC oil strike in onshore Gujarat. The news item above mentions inplace reserves as 50 million barrels while this news item: http://news.newkerala.com/india-news/index.php?action=fullnews&id=7145 mentions 50 million tonnes (~3...

Re: Oil & Natural Gas: News & Discussion - VI

This article on Gas availability in 2010-11 takes an even more pessimistic view. It says gas production in 2010-11 will be ~95 MMSCM/day. This would be the most pessimistic view in my opinion as it assumes absolutely no new discoveries between now and then. Also I dont think the numbers here include...

Re: Oil & Natural Gas: News & Discussion - VI

If RIL goes with this rate of discovery, we might start exporting gas to TSP and Bangaladesh in next 10 years Sorry to rain on your parade, but India remains a very low producer/consumer of Natural Gas. Current production is 80-90 MMSCM/day. I feel that by 2007 India can easily consume 200-250 MMSC...
