Re: MRCA (Many Rakshaks Choose Aircraft) Contest - Episode III

Rafale should reduce RCS by half. It could be more on the rear rather than frontal. However, on all sides, they have huge promise, but at huge price. Rafale is darn expensive.. we have got to think hard on homegrown platforms.

Re: VayuSena Rafale: News and Discussions - 17 Oct 2016

something tells me, stealth world is missing permeance totally, and look at absorptions and internal deflections rather spend huge billions like F117s exterior shapes, and as a consequence, lose aerodynamic aspects. Raptor and JSF did a pretty good job towards this goal as compared to F117s. OT, but...

Re: VayuSena Rafale: News and Discussions - 17 Oct 2016

people give conflicting data about Rafale RCS, comparing nearly with Typhoon and SHornet. I can't believe Rafale after giving much engineering into their composite skins, would have the numbers near SHornet, unless they are comparing similar skins. Also, there was a big talk about Su30-MKI upgrade f...

Re: VayuSena Rafale: News and Discussions - 17 Oct 2016

Mirage had indeed influenced a lot of design for Tejas (LCA), and its variants. I am seeing a similar influence of inlet design for Indian MWF-4 (Mirage 4000ish) from Rafale. Something unique about Rafale, and it is near stealth with frontal RCS. AMCA designs will look at it with deep respect. https...

OT, but functionally relevant on Sandeep Unnithan's article above^^^.

Converting MKI to Super 30 will not avoid an AMRAAM, but focusing on purely stealth skins, towed decoys and reducing RCS will. It applies to Tejas/AMCA too.

Is it going from 5 engines to 2 engines or from 4 engines to 2 engines for fine-braking?

wouldn't then be cheaper to have all air cushioned landing inside a big inflated ball [it ain't going up for sure] - say co2 or o2 is good enough for cushioning some spring loaded soft-joints to the the balloon periphery. it would also take care of any accidental tumbling etc (mechanicals).
