Re: India and the NMD-2
Tim,
how difficult is it to scale-up a division-level exercise/operation to Corps level? As long as the concepts are validated and operationalized, it is only a question of time and how soon DRDO can crank out those NBC suits and equipment.
Capability may not exist at the intended level, but fro...

Re: What kind of equipment do the Indian police have?
The crying need for Indian policemen aren't automatic weapons, but non-lethal weapons like stun grenades, bean-bag bullets, rubber bullets, pepper spray, cattle prods, tazers. Often, Indian cops shoot into crowds injuring and sometimes fatally killing people, because they don't have any other option...

Re: News, Reports and Analysis: LCA
What do you guys think of Jasjit Singh's analysis in TOI? I think the challenge is to develop Kaveri and this may take much longer than 2010. In the interim he suggests using Russian engines (discussed first on BR). He also highlights the shortfall in IAF of 10-12 squadrons by 2010. Realistically, L...

Re: MiG-21 & Balderdash
Tom,
remember the arguments comparing Mig-29 and F-16. What if I state that the Mig-29 with the Adder is more agile, more maneoverable and deadly compared to a F-16. In fact, during exercises, the German Mi-29s consistently beat the F-16 during close-in combat. Western folks are going counter that...

I thought the S. African anti-material gun we are purchasing is specifically meant for bunker-busting. It's cheaper to use than the Bofors and you can equip infantry with many more of these guns..

Doesn't the Harriers come with flare & chaff dispensers? If yes, wouldn't that offset its higher IR signature, and with ECM support from Mirage 2000, would it be a feasible platform for kargil type air operations?
Salman & Co objections regarding few number of harriers and their "high...
