Interesting thread, if a bit slow. Tandav, Rotax is not certificated as a typical manned aircraft engine. In fact their manuals say that you should assume they can fail any time and should plan accordingly. Use of certificated engines is not needed for experimentals and certainly not for military un...

Theo saar, your point that solar electricity, even with battery, will be cheap is taken. Request you to please fix/clarify units (especially energy vs power) for new readers. Also, we will need roughly 18,000 MWh of battery capacity (not 4,000 MWh) to support 24/7 operation. If I understood your log...

There's hardly any modern country that is not confused about identities. Maybe the Russians, maybe the Chinese, maybe the Australians. Maybe a couple more countries like Japan or Switzerland. The US has a plenty strong inner jihad waging to figure out what it wants to be.

Amazing how quickly the winds change. I'm referring not just to Iran's behaviour, but to the speed and extent of the global realignment that has been triggered (or perhaps accelerated) by India's decision to ally with the US in this advanced stage of the Great Game.

It's a believable number. For example, many women would like to work, but find it too competitive to find a job, and not worthwhile because of high childcare costs, and US tax law for married couples. Austin, should it not be the other way? For rupee to become 16 to the dollar, we would have to raise output and exports by a factor of 4, relative to what others are doing. RBI has been using devaluation as a band-aid to compensate for deep structural problems.
