Kangra Airport has a 1400m runway only and it wont allow fighter operations, and also availability of space around the airport is low which means expansion of airport is not possible

The full report of ASRAAM for Tejas is not out yet

I think they are considering ASRAAM for Tejas because ADA is having trouble integrating Python 5 on Tejas and ASRAAM is already available in IAF inventory

I think India should consider Kawasaki C-2 as replacement for MTA and have them manufactured in India by private sector under collaboration with Japan. The Japanese developed it specifically for short runways and it is suppose to land with 26 ton on a 500m runway. http://imgproc.airliners.net/photos...

The Rudra has missiles in the form of 70mm rockets for use against the enemy and it is not completely useless without a ATGM.
