The likely damaging parts of this deal have been filtered out, such was the microscopic detail over language and placement of commas. The larger picture is that we got into an INTENSE dealmaking process with the americans, understood american dealmaking dhanda, and the US got an idea of what indian...

The deal that JS proposed is vastly different than the one proposed in J18 to the UPA. And also the one in the Hyde Act is again vastly different than the one proposed in J18. Yes GoI did marshall its resources to support the Hyde Act but under the impression it was in conformity with the J18. All ...

Tanaji.... As you said...'it probably never will be confirmed'. And there is no way that I can confirm it...hell the GOI refuses to release info about Netaji...so we shouldn't be holding our breath for clarifications on subjects like this...and not least of all on the Indo-US nuke deal. Tanaji and ...

Manav: Thanks for the clarification, I was not aware of what you said. It sheds a different light, subject to it being true, and it probably never will be confirmed. I better stop here about my views, since it is not germane to the nuke topic. Tanaji.... As you said...'it probably never will be con...

Leading US think tank says India-US nuke deal unlikely Okay, so how does this jive with what Perky said about India having been the initiator or undertaker for this N-Deal? They can't both be right. Either India initiated the deal, or else US initiated it for containing China. Really, it's importan...

Is it true that it was India who initiated this nuke deal with the US?
Certainly, Perkovitch seems to think so...

Can anyone confirm or deny this with some authority?

Just to provide another data point for the agenda of the NPT Ayatollahs, IAEA is reporting the successful shutdown for North Korea's nuclear plant. I presume Iran is next and who knows who is next... N.Korea has shut its nuclear reactor, IAEA chief U.N. inspectors have verified that North Korea has...

Manav, Philip is 100% correct. You should try to read up on the RB occupants from the late 60s. You will get the names in chronological order. OK. Will do. Any suggested sources? Actually, its not that I don't believe Philip, it's just that I find what he mentioned with reference to the RB occupant...

I don't understand what complaint you have about Bush's legacy. He left a stunning legacy of Iraq invasion. History will not read what we know of Iraq ops today. It will be written in colorful strategic imperative and a bold move. And yes, it will be a glorious victory of US (actually it is). They ...

Assuming that the US and India agree (whichever way it works out) and an agreement is signed, then how easy (or difficult) is it for either of the signatories to break out of the agreement? India recognizes that President Bush is now a wilting president with little support from his own ranks - and h...

Kumar, Thanks for posting that ... minor nitpick ... for me shraddha is devotion, not faith ... the difference is that the former is active while the latter is passive ... devotion is a way to conduct one's life ... it can be bhakti yoga, or some other form ... in my college days, my favorite perso...

Atoms for War...?
I guess you folks are familiar with Ashley Tellis' "Atoms for War: US-India Civilian Nuclear Cooperation and India's Nuclear Arsenal" (2006). He makes a similar point, though from a different angle.

Question - hope it's not out of context
I keep reading that the RAW recruits both from the UPSC and the 'outside'. My question is this - Can someone (anyone) apply to the RAW like folks do for the CIA? For the CIA - if one is interested, go the their website and apply - they also visit various universities during the recruitment fairs etc...
