Re: LCA: News & Discussions: 15 August 2017

Another "educated guess" on python FWIW. The vibration was actually very minor. A standard fix was available, which is being implemented. But the interesting fact is that the "stated requirement" for the CCM was already met in the form of R73, and python was 'ghee on roti'. Gun a...

Re: LCA: News & Discussions: 15 August 2017

It is too early to call on AamKa. Right now, the airframe/engine TD is sanctioned. It should be obvious that the current generation avionics (well proven) will be used for the TD, and the next generation will be developed meanwhile. I don't think there can be a "deal" for support of AamKa ...

Re: LCA: News & Discussions: 15 August 2017

I will reiterate my call here. "IAF will buy as many Tejas as HAL can build over a big number of marks, blocks, upgrades and whatnot. The basic airframe/engine combination will not change".

Re: LCA: News & Discussions: 15 August 2017

DRDO/HAL needs to grow some b4lls and fight back with facts and figures. Trust me when I say that they are sitting with a smug smile on their face. There are reasons. The primary one being it makes "business sense" for HAL and ADA (DRDO as an organization don't have much stake in the prog...

Re: LCA: News & Discussions: 15 August 2017

^^This gives corroboration to the notion that ADA and HAL are sitting with a smug smile about the IAF article dissing Tejas. HAL should be happy that their "line is loaded" to the full. ADA should be happy that they successfully delivered a great product, whatever the news report says. The...

Answering late: 1. Cobham radome performed exceptionally well, but there is no ToT planned AFAIK. No idea on what NAL is doing. Since I am pretty sure that no phoenix feather is embedded in the cobham radome, it should be possible to easily reach 90% performance in a couple of iterations. What I hea...

Re: AMCA News and Discussions

The "love" for AM Matheswaran for ADA and LCA (and vice versa) is legendary. The root cause apparently is that his ideas were not accepted in the LCA. There are a number of retired see-near aircraft folk who got hired by the pvt sector, and got kicked out because of 'not getting anything d...

MK2 is dead. Long live MK2 (aka MK1A or whatever plane that has essentially the same airframe and engine as now). Planes will get built and stuff will get phased in as they mature, and get retro-fitted into existing airframes. Orders will happen as the existing orders gets executed. Meen-avial.. som...

Re: LCA: News & Discussions: 15 August 2017

I say HAL should be given a list of friendly nations that it can sell Fighter Jets to and let them build LCA for foreign countries that need such a fighter. Let them manage it as a business, get funding and build upon it. It will also serve a purpose very critical - Let them fail on their own and r...

I get signals that 'senkshun' had been given for Aam-Ka TD. This will be to develop the twin injin airframe that flies. Once again, an 'educated guess' and FWIW.

Folks, here are some "well educated guesses" FWIW. 1. The report is 400% accurate onlee. It is indeed the IAF presented to RM and MoD. 2. The reason is, IAF is pretty sure that Tejas won't come in good numbers any time soon. HAL's current strategy and the progresses made notwithstanding. S...

I am pretty sure that a PPT made by IAF to present to RM and Babus had been purposefully leaked out. The PPT's purpose would have been to answer RM's question "why you need SEF? What is your plan?". I think, in typical Indiligence SoP, the "comparison sheet" quotes the best on on...

Why shouldn't the pilots be happy? It is the best flier. Radar is second best in range and best in performance. Other sensors equal or best of the lot. Pilot-Vehicle interface is the best.

The primary problem is, the neta/babu/brass imagine that soldiers are born TFTA trained and ready to fight from some magic womb, basically because that is what they have seen from the import maal.

We have afsars who complained that "LCA can't fly without telemetry".

We will never go for the incremental, twin engine LCA path. For the Yindoo mind, 'economy at any cost' is the key.
