I recently bought a crank handle powered flashlight in the US - no batteries, just turn the crank handle for 90 seconds, for half an hour of light. It also has a inbuilt cell phone charger - cranking for 5 minutes generates enough power for 2 minutes of talk time... not very efficient, but useful in...
