Ramana, it is 4.4 million. I am not sure if the numbers are single race or multiple races. I would assume it is the latter as the numbers given by MEA for 2017 is lower. There will be another 1.5 million who are still Indian citizens. https://factfinder.census.gov/faces/tableservices/jsf/pages/produ...

Regarding the Paki grooming gangs the blame lies squarely on the Breeteesh. They have imported huge numbers of Pakis in the last 20 years for God knows why. Instead they are giving a lot of trouble to Indian immigrants. As a percentage Pakis have the highest immigration rates among major immigrant g...

Re: Indian Economy News & Discussion - Nov 27 2017

There is no use in fighting whether it is central or state tax. More than 100% tax is not a feasible option. Taxes have to come down. As suggested above they can transfer it to a new GST slab and gradually bring it down to 50-60% tax. But states have to agree which they are not.

They can reduce it by one rupee every three months to bring it to a reasonable level. Both high petroleum prices and falling rupee are inflationary. So expect RBI to hike rates.

Re: Indian Economy News & Discussion - Nov 27 2017

Petroluem under GST is a bad idea. The 28% rate is too low. The typically rich countries in Europe with extensive social security systems have around 50-60% tax. Indians expect everything to be free. A hark back to socialism. Someone has to pay for all the social security that this govt is bringing....

No he is right. With nearly Rs 7 lakh crore given out it will be a huge financial mess if not handled properly and kept an eye on. Remember it cannot go under something like NCLT. If the scheme tanks it is taxpayers money which will have to bail out. Till now the NPA in Mudra is around 3% I believe ...

Prasad, oil prices go through up and down cycles. So you cannot cut or raise taxes going by that logic as govt would like to have stable finances. A better way is to reduce taxes in general. Nam, from google what I am getting is cumulative taxes is more than 100% which is crazily similar to the inco...

Re: Indian Economy News & Discussion - Nov 27 2017

Good post but a caveat. High taxes on fuel except kerosene is a legacy of the socialist phase in India where driving a car or flying in an aeroplane was considered a luxury e.g. we have one of the highest aviation fuel taxes in the world. This was compensated for the ordinary man by giving various m...

It is clearly Haryana and Punjab. They have taken sports to the grassroots. As Sandeep's picture shows astroturf in villages and proper wrestling mats in villages. Now even shooting ranges in school. There are youtube videos on the same. Other states have mostly not done that.
