Re: Indian Economy News & Discussion - Nov 27 2017

Shaurya, the NPAs were primarily due to two reasons. Poor governance due to which projects were stuck leading to NPAs. And crony capitalism with favourable businessmen getting credit that they don't deserve e.g. Mallya. The first has been tackled to some extent e.g. the stuck projects in road buildi...

It is a rehash of old failed policies in J&K. Probably done at the behest of the Mufti govt. But what is being given in return?

UK shelters all types of crooks. So Mallya made a good choice. Nirav Modi is likely to move to a place where he cannot be or will not be extradited. Ultimately it is upto the coercive diplomatic ability of India and the ability of Indian agencies to provide evidence. There are many inefficient and c...

HariOm is not a good source as his biases are well known. Article 35A is the key. Unfortunately we have people like Nariman willing to fight for separatists. Actually the number 25 million being added to the population is higher estimate. It should be around 18 million (180 million per decade). Half are girls who often do not work in our country. So the estimates are on the higher side. But jobs are being created maybe not high paying.

One thing they can look at is escalate in Siachen sector, blame it on Pakistan and then change the territorial status quo. Pak needs to loose more than it is currently. A few hundred dead jihadis is nothing for it.

Meanwhile Pak spokesman In India Mani Screwball Aiyar has asked for talks.

Don't want to get into politics here but you can see what they are doing with a simple bill like triple talak which has SC endorsement. In any case the present approach is correct. Article 35A is more important than Art370 as the former prevents other Indians from settling in J&K. Even if they h...

Who are you trying to fool? Why should the govt want to pass a constitutional amendment bill when it knows to has no numbers to pass it. As for article 35A previous govts supported the bill in SC which is why it was not scrapped. This time they have left it to the courts.

Haridas, you are wrong and Indranil is right. Agni3 weight indeed has been reduced to 22T primarily using composites. Agni4 is a new generation missile (compared to earlier Agni series) with new technologies apart from reduction in weight. These technologies are finding their way into newer missiles.
