Re: Indian Railways Thread (Dec 2015)

It will be great if they can pull this off. It is an ugly scene of slums and ,mounds of garbage around railway tracks in all Indian cities and towns.

Re: Internal Security Watch

He is better off outside India than back in India. Even if he is convicted he is going to get a only a few years of jail and will be back in business. No point in bringing him back. There are actual terrorists holed up in places like UK who need to be brought back.

Re: Indian Roads Thread

It is actually 3 lanes on each side with provision for 4 lanes. The interchanges have been made keeping that in mind. So 4 lanes plus 2 exit lanes = 6 lanes.

Only business tax. They can still avoid IT. That is why you need to match business tax with IT and Adhaar comes into play. The only people IMO who may be avoiding tax (IT) now are those that are self-employed like doctors, lawyers, traders, CAs, etc.

Re: Indian Economy News & Discussion - Nov 27 2017

Fair taxation is relative. The tax in the lower bracket has been reduced. There is no evidence that Indians are taxed higher than in other countries. What can happen is that tax brackets can change with rising GDP and salary. That will happen every few years when the GDP and salaries have risen subs...

Re: Indian Sports and Entertainment Industry

True but organizing games fires up our sports babus to do something about sports in India. It is like poking the bull from his slumber. They will put in more effort than they normally do. While we try to create a sports ecosystem in India, which is more important, holding the AG will bring out extra...

Re: Indian Sports and Entertainment Industry

Both the men and women relay teams are about 10 sec short of world std. In sprint that is like diff between Mum and Del. Unless you have men who run 400 m sub-50 and women close to 50 you will not get there. Right now we don't have such athletes.

The standard method to rigging the system is to pay off small or poor countries. China has also started doing that but still not there and India should follow suit.

Re: Indian Sports and Entertainment Industry

We only participated in the 400 m relay this time. The men didn't finish and the women didn't do well. Their timing wouldn't give them bronze even in 2010 when they won. We have stagnated whereas the field in CWG has progressed. I believe in the relays except USA almost all the good teams are presen...

Re: Indian Sports and Entertainment Industry

No, there were more events in 2010 that favoured India in shooting, wrestling, archery, tennis, etc. Not doping. They started pruning them down after that to stop India. Similar to what they are doing in OG to stop China. E.g. who does BMX cycling outside developed countries. Just look at the AG sch...

Re: Indian Sports and Entertainment Industry

Six Indians in boxing finals. Lets see how many can convert to gold. Victor Axelsen is pretty good but not dominant. Inconsistent and beatable. Not like Lin Dan when he was the champ. India lost to Australia by one goal in women's hockey. A freak goal and failure to convert an open chance cost the match. Harinder needs to work harder on the girls. Lucky win against England. Defence needs to be more solid but they are playing attacking hockey which suits India.
