If Valkan ji could explain ... the theory of creation then the whole discussion would fall in place. If you could clarify what you mean by the word 'creation' that you believe in, it would be of immense help. It would be even better, if you clarified whether you believe in creation 'ex nihilo' or s...

I asked a simple question according to you what is God ? anyways I believe in God and the singular act of creation, but as usual I am open to discussion. As you can clearly see yourself, the question carries a lot of baggage. If you wish to discuss logically, first you have to posit your beli...

At the risk of sounding repetitively moronic, why does it matter that in your opinion millions of Hindus don't 'seem' to have any idea of what their religion is? Two reasons. 1) Gullible sections of Hindus are at the wrong end of the 'conversion' stick, and the conversion attempt(s) is(are) specifi...

It seems to me that you are unable to connect an intellectual description with a experiential one, and are limited to intellectual conception. I suggest you do some Tratak to gain insight. At any rate Gyan yog and Vedanta are incomplete philosophies, because they do not have a fully practical side ...

This Dvaita vs Advitha and calling each other indefensible by the other has to end. You misunderstood the concept. If you are using scriptures, you can always find something that comes close to your position. Obviously, that doesn't help. In another venue, the discussion centered around what makes ...

The festivals have been celebrated for millenia and people have never been in doubt about why we do it. We do it because that is our way of worship. There have been very few conversions from those who have celebrated these festivals 'faith'fully. Once again you missed the point. Those who have unfl...

Let there be a million Navratris and Ganesh festivals and Diwalis and let no EJ or paki cast an evil eye upon the rapture (albeit nurtured by commerce) of Hindus in these festivals. You missed the point entirely. What is it that are you worshipping in Navratri, or Durga Puja or Deepavali ? It is no...

Just curious Valkan, is there any mention of Vaikuntam in Advaitam? I am not sure what you mean by 'mention in Advaitam'. In Advaita, terms like Gokula and Vaikuntha are symbolic. They hold far greater significance for those that believe in a gradient in liberation like Salokya, Samipya, Sayujya etc.

But the level of weakness of Hinduism as a faith and the level of suicidal sidelining of their own way of life by Hindus cannot be examined without allowing a discussion of Hindus and Hinduism. You have touched two topics: 1) Level of weakness of Hinduism as a faith 2) level of suicidal sidelining ...

Shiv is trying to bring it back to the original premise, i.e., is EJ a threat? True. But shiv also said: What needs protection? Who needs protection? Can you protect what has already been lost? When it appears that so many educated forum members do not seem to have a clue about the Hindu dharma the...

Are not the concepts of Saguna and Nirguna Brahman mutually exclusive? No they are not. It seems either you glossed over the previous posts, or didn't make the best of it. If Brahman encompasses both gunas and the lack thereof , doesn't this logically mean Brahman possesses attributes? I suspect th...

The few followers of advaita whom I had met in the past were not too familiar with Bhagvatam That's always possible. But no need to generalize. Jnana doesn't preclude Bhakti. Let's take an example. Without fire, you can't cook rice. But you do not throw out the water from the vessel just because yo...

ananta (infinite/unlimited) is a necessary condition for Ananda (bliss) but not a sufficient one. Logically incorrect. When am I happy ? I am happy when I have no dearth of anything. Even the smallest limitation/dearth makes me unhappy. As soon as that limitation is removed ( i.e., I get/do what I ...

Thanks for the offer, but I will keep my faith in Jesus Christ :) Not a problem. Since this was presumed to be a logical discourse, I merely suggested you apply logic to your arguments. Alokguru, it should be sat chit Anand ... Actually the words Anantam and Anandam are identical,- Anantam Eva Anandam. 'Unhappiness' is caused by some limitations imposed upon you. Overall, however, their emphasis was more on ending the mental suffering of their fellow beings, rather than delve into the abs...

I'll try a brief logical explanation WITHOUT the need to take recourse to scriptures. This may put some to sleep, drive some others to madness. So bear with me. What we are trying to...
