Why is it a "sunset" product? It certainly is newer than the F-16 and the MiG-29. because procuring it will kill LCA, and we all are loking forward atleast 100 LCA's in IAF. joey, choice of any MRCA shall not impede procurement of 200 units of Tejas planes in IAF (it is guaranteed). Howev...

Although not to be discussed further, it may be unlikely that only licence production activities are executed by BHEL, as some technologies have been pioneered by BHEL, besides making India amongst few nations globally to develop some other technologies indigenously. Equipment & power plants are...

Hi. Following is excerpt of an article by Ms. Arundhati Roy :- For many years, India has been more or less self-sufficient in power equipment. The Indian public-secotor company, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), manufactured and even exported world-class power equipment. All that's changed no...

Hi. Indigenous ABM tested in Nov. may be superior to S-300 and Arrow systems, as it is similar in operation and equipment to advanced A-135 ABM system of Russia, as described above. I would like to know which supercomputer is used by analogous computing post (if any present) in indigenous ABM system...

hi. In my view, Barak-II may not be neccessary as indigenous 60km SAM may be developed by incorporating technologies and experience from concluded projects of Trishul, Akash and recently conducted ABM test.

Only auxillary components like sensor technical data may be sourced from Israel.
Thanks.

hi. Following interview of head of DRDO, Dr. Saraswat : "The entire project is likely to take three years to complete," said V. K. Saraswat, Chief Controller of DRDO's Missiles and Strategic Systems Division. The shorter-range interceptor missile would have double the range of the American...

In my view, basic set-up of surveillance radar and tracking & guidance radars (multiple layers of former) may be used for indigenous ABM, similar to S-300 system. Prediction of trajectory as in Arrow-2 may be done as range of interceptor may be for point-defence, thus enabling interceptor to man...

IN my view, annual import of weapons of $5.5 billion may be reduced by few hundred million dollars to accelerate ABM development. India's ABM may require only few hundred million dollars, as total cost of Arrow-2 development was $2 billion only. Same may be the reason for some delay in IGMP program ...

saty, technical details of Patriot missile was acquired covertly by China as no nation may transfer ToT for ABM technology overtly. Russia has also not provided ToT for S-300 system to China presently. Thus, only ABM units may be available for sale to India, and not ToT for ABM systems. Also, as per...

hi. As per research articles, technical details of Patriot system were covertly acquired by China from Israel. This, along with existing S-300 systems enabled China to develop HQ-9 long-range SAM (with limited ABM capability.) China is seeking licence-rights for S-300 systems from Russia to be manuf...

So the design of the missile may have been inspired from S-300VM system. So is it an Indian design inspired by M83 missile with electronics inspired by Israel? or is it all completely indigenous? As per recent ststements of DRDO officials, the ABM is entirely indigenous and used a modified Prithvi ...

Hi. In my view, this successful ABM test must discourage any purchase of foreign systems like Patriot, Arrow-2 and S-300. This system may be developed further to field indigenous ABM system. Pakistan's Hatf-1, Hatf-2 (280kms) and Hatf-3 missiles may be defended against by this ABM system. In my view...

I know that the LCA fighter, the light helicopter, and Arjun tank are in various stages of development, but given India's engineering capabilities I would think that India would be an exporter of high-technology equipment and the above systems would have been in frontline service years ago. I hope ...
