Re: Su-30: News and Discussion
Dont the new generation ejection seats have 0/0 ejection seats. Meaning that pilots can eject at almost Ground Level and still they would be safe. I think the Pakistani F-16's have such Martin Baker ejection seats installed.

Re: Possible Indian Military Scenarios - XII
I agree with the above mentioned point vivek. If you deem it possible, a 300 page prequel to the main book should be a good idea. One of the reasons and points that made your scenario's really good was the diplomatic angle to the scenario. You put in the politics going on in GoI as well as the indiv...

Re: India's R&D in Defence DRDO, PSUs and Private Sector
It all depends on how fast private Indian shipyards come up, and how fast the existing private as well as PSU ones are able to expand and modernize.
The number of private shipyards in India as well as their size is pitiable when compared to even China.

Does KC-130J be used for probe and drogue or just boom refuelling. AFAIK, Su-30's use only P&D refuelling method? Its usefullness is quite limited if it cant refuel the fighter fleet. It comes with hose since helicopters can be refueled only by that method. This method is fine for fighters - th...

Re: Artillery and Armor thread
Thats falling into the Pakistani syndrome-comparing with what we had before and thinking we'r much better off. We need to compare in terms of what others have acquired as well in that timeframe as well. We know that the Chinese have large quantities of MRLS-we know they will use them liberally if th...

Re: Possible Indian Military Scenarios - XII
Sorry I should have been more precise in putting down my opinion. By uncertain, I meant the numbers not whether it will be inducted or not. If this conflict is happening right now, then I don't think we have sufficient deployable Brahmos for land attack. My mention of Agni-I and Agni-II was to high...

Re: Possible Indian Military Scenarios - XII
That the LACM version of BrahMos would be deployed is not uncertain mate. It will be deployed, the point is that the range of BrahMos severely limits its use against China. We need to have longer ranged BrahMos to hit important nodes atleast a reasonable distance inside China apart from Tibet that is.

Re: Possible Indian Military Scenarios - XII
Our counter attack would be severely constrained because of the range of BrahMos-300Kms. We NEED to increase the range of BrahMos so that it can go for major air bases/HQ's etc inside China, not just Tibet. And even to target the areas surrounding Tibet, our missile's would have to launch from Aruna...

Mate there is a NEED for a plane that is between the An-32 and the Il-76. Its the Medium transporter-Like the C-130'J'. We need a plane that is carries 20 tons. Its a multirole transport aircraft. It would become the backbone of the transport fleet of the IAF. It can be used in many roles, from carr...

Wouldnt it have been better had the AF would just have waited for the Maitri to materialize, seeing as its a JV, it would be a smarter buy. Secondly, what role does Akash fit in, in comparison with Spyder? Are they of the same class and capabilities? Does buying SpyDer's mean that Akash's orders wou...

Guys, correct me if im wrong, but why the hell did we buy Hawks now? I mean we would be one of the last countries in the world to buy subsonic trainers. Re: India's R&D in Defence DRDO, PSUs and Private Sector
Basically there is only TATA and L&T that would become the main players in the entire spectrum of military hardware. And if i had to choose further it would just be TATA. L&T is mainly interested in Naval orders. I hope that other companies also step up and try to become a general defence co...

Indian economy is expanding Doesnt mean we have to burn through the money. Oil prices have risen drastically, dont you think it already puts strain on the IAF's operating budget and training excersises. I dont think that the new Metros being built in various cities should be of the same capacity of the Delhi Metro. Delhi Metro has ridiculously high ridership and it is getting REALLY crowded. No country would ever give military equipment to India on such a grand scale directly in a war, and this includes Russ...

Contrary to normal thinking, since early 90's, Indian defense preparedness is more inclined to contain the threat of China than Pakistan.
