NRao,
I don't think MMS's statements to Parliament were a mistake. Far from it.
What was a mistake was that they were a bit too infrequent, which I suspect is a cause for a lot of angst.

NRao, I have not posted my hypothesis on what I think happened behind the scenes. Here it is: You remember the complains on our side that a lot of people were not kept in the loop when J18 (and subsequently M2) was originally conceived and negotiated? The same sort of complains were also voiced in t...

VSudhir, From my perspective, the nuclear deal was not just about the final text of the 123 agreement but also the process in which the text came about to be. Look at the past post of mine that I quoted for NRao where I talk about the trust building aspect of the nuclear deal. This was supposed to b...

NRao, I forgot to mention this in my last post and don't want to edit it as it is overly long as it is. What do I think about the Hyde act and J18/M2 and how they relate to the 123 agreement? Very simply, the Hyde act is inconsequential and irrelevant for us as far as the 123 agreement goes. It is o...

NRao, You have had a bee up your bonnet about the Hyde act for a long time now. Let me make my views on that clear instead of skirting around it in our back and forth. You claim you have a source that informs you that the GoI had set aside a lobbying budget for the Hyde act and that to me seems to b...

NRao, Here is that first post to you that I talked about in the last thread: This talk of there is more to Indo-US relations that the nuclear deal or that this deal is a minor affair in Indo-US relations is all hogwash. The nuclear part of the nuclear deal happens to be incidental. This deal was an ...

Satya, Even I think rewriting the Hyde act is not something that can realistically happen. So what? That is entirely America's problem. Where in that ToI article did you find a GoI official saying that the Hyde act was acceptable or that the nuclear deal is going to be along the lines of the Hyde ac...

Arun, In my view, the reprocessing issue in the nuclear deal is important to us from the perspective of waste storage and management. I do not think the DAE is going to put any FBRs and AHWRs and the associated reprocessing plants on the civilian side in the foreseeable future. AK in one of his inte...

NRao, One more thing about the separate reprocessing plant. I don't see how that is a compromise of any sort on anything. The reprocessing that would have taken place under campaign safeguards in existing plants before will just take place in a different dedicated plant now. And that is actually goo...

NRao, Firstly as an aside, why no response to my first post? Just curious. Secondly, none of your three reasons make sense: I see more NRIs, etc parroting what Burns, Inc has been saying NRIs are not Indian citizens. They are not expected to have India's interests in mind. Anyone who thinks otherwis...

So are we back to calling people sellouts and traitors? That idiotic nautanki continues? Satya: The pentagon part of the pentagon visit is also incidental. JCage, Any more info on the Samrat project. It seems directed towards developing the basic building blocks of the next generation of Indian EW systems rather than any specific EW system. JCage, Thanks! I was going through the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence reports and found references to those two projects that I was unaware of. Arun, On closer inspection and comparison with the second photo, it does seem that the puff of smoke is coming from the area joining the adapter and the RV, i.e. the base of the RV. So you are right, it does seem like the HAM is venting excess propellant. Also, can you post a link to the video that ...

Just throwing in my two paise, That puff of white smoke seems to come not from the RV but from the adapter that connects the RV to the second stage. My guess is that there are a number of small thrusters arranged all around the adapter that are perpendicular to the direction of motion and that these...

Singha, Not quite. The endo-atmospheric interceptor is built around a solid rocket motor that is around 60-70 cm in diameter and around 600 cm in length. A lot different from the air breathing ramjet of the Akask. There is a photograph of a full scale mock-up on ACIG taken during the last DefExpo. O...

Don't get worked up so much over no news. As much as BR would like to have a live feed straight from Wheeler Island, it ain't getting one. Johann, I do not have a source handy for the following so take it for what its worth: The Americans transferred 2 F-16s to Pakistan a while ago.
