BTW, DID any Paki F-16 get a "lock" or even turn on their power during the Kargil War? Why wouldn't Paki planes get a "lock" if the IAF went close enough and flew over Skardu? If the Pakis did, so what? Did they fire or run? I was under the impression that PAF stayed firmly insi...

45 sqns for the IAF is just a dream at the moment. The success of the LCA is imperative if the IAF is to reach anywhere near this figure. I think those data are from wiki , the 29,700 kg MTOW is incorrect , though real data is hard to come by , but the MTOW should not be more than Mig-29K + 500 Kg. Yes its from wiki. It is not the number of troops required to take it over. Any random number you pull out of a hat - say 250,000, might be enough. The problem is holding on to it. With supplies coming over 5000 meter mountains and a single railway line the requirement of feeding those troops, keeping them armed and ...

Also fighters rarely ever travel at Mach 2 speeds except for a quick dash out of combat airspace. That point is moot, since none of the MRCA contenders would be able to do what you are saying (least of all the Mig-35). You need something in the class of an F-22/35 to do that. It is relevant.
