Re: MRCA News and Discussion

well looking at the time frame, today the old bids expire, new bids will be valid for one year as per Govt. request, looking at the shortages we face, the deal will be sealed before same time next year. SAAB claims deliveries can begin by 2013. http://www.gripen.com/en/GripenFighter/Gripen_Campaigns...

Re: MRCA News and Discussion

cost per flight hour
F-16 around $6000
EF around 14000 euros
Rafale: $16,000
F/A-18E: $10,000
Gripen: $4,500

Rafale is very expensive to operate , gripen NG the lowest in single engined fighters and SH in the twin engined fighters.

Re: MRCA News and Discussion

well Rafale and EF wont be able to add anything else to the bid firstly because of their high cost per flight hour, so even if They reduce their price, the cost per flight hour will not be worth it. Over their life times, F-18SH and Gripen NG make more sense. Gripen has lowest cost per life time of ...

EF still remains very expensive plus its A2G abilities havent been fully developed. Gr8 airplanes but it isn't going very good with some of the users. I think it comes down to Gripen NG and SH. Re: LCA news and discussion

All sources point towards that fact that MMR is very much similar to the EL-2032 in performance, hence 120 km tracking range for fighter sized target isn't over-rated. secondly it should be able to detect very large ships from around 300km because its power output plus its an X-band radar hints at t...

IMO we should stick to ELTA and work with them on a high power and modified version of the EL-2052 AESA for the LCA mk-2, we have a good working relationship with them and full-tot wont be a problem. Being able to track 64 targets etc is nice to have. The EL-2052's max. detection range is also very ...

I think that the A-Brahmos will be both land and ship attack missile. we have 280MKI on order, thats 14 squadrons @ 20 aircraft each. Re: MRCA News and Discussion

the NG, SH and EF can offer commonality with LCA mk-2 in terms of engine. NG performs really well with the GE F 414, it allows it to supercruise with a good load so there isnt a need to have the EJ200 engine on the NG. GE F 414 seems like the obvious route for the LCA mk-2.
