Re: LCA News and Discussions

what I find interesting is that even the chase plane didn't retract its LG. Is that always the case that the chase flies the exact same profile as the lead plane.?

Re: LCH and other Helicopters Discussion Thread

Nice! 6000 meters is awesome. Would we be able to do the same in a fully loaded lch ? Interestingly WikiBaba lists the service ceiling of "The Beast" at 6500m. I am sure it would not be possible to take it to 6000m "Fully Loaded", but should be able to reach there with a "u...

Re: LCA News and Discussions

Fair enough. But it remains that while team LCA might have achieved a lot technologically, it has not executed its second mandate even remotely - provide the AF an a/c that it can induct in the near term as a replacement for the Mig-21 . Had the LCA been available even in a modest form - just a Bis...

Ethics . A significant number of those dorks lack more than 2 with Ethics being disturbingly the one they lack most often. I agree it was sad seeing that the newly launched US Boeing 787 for AirIndia occupied Page 1 slot where as the first flight of our very own LCA was relegated to an inner page

Re: LCA News and Discussions

During one of the exercises with Khan, their pilots were highly appriciative of Mig-21 with its big jammer. A small plane with a big jammer really put them off... Going by the same analogy I believe Mig 21++ (which is a way of derogating Tejas) should really kick some a%^ not only will it have bette...

Re: LCA News and Discussions

Actually IIRC LSP-7 on its first flight did retract its landing gear - so confidence on the landing gear of the AF variant is high. Not so for the Navy variant. Judging by the "No retraction of Landing Gear" rule on the Naval, it appears to me that the ADA/HAL/NFTC folks are almost lookin...

There is seriously a lack of info flowing out (when compared to LSP 7). Either Tarmaak makes that big a diff or..... there is a clamp down on the photos and such (that is mentioned in Tarmaak site). Not many news sites are carrying the news also. Sad :(

I do agree with John, going by the numbers the speed does not seem to be influenced only by the engine, the overall design seems to be contributing more to its speed characteristics.

One question with regards to Rafale. We do hear the common complaint that the nose of the plane is too small to hold a decent radar. What about the development (or pressure on Dassult to develop) a radar like the one on the T-50, Leading edge sensors..... this should help over come the small nose is...
