Even if the above chart is accurate (I have no idea, it is from twitter), all it says is that some states have a lot of unused vaccines. Another hypothesis could be that these states are terrible at delivering the vaccines to the people.

This center/state distribution of vaccines has been a huge fiasco. Vaccination rate has dropped by a million/ day. This is a huge drop and I hope we don’t end up paying for this. Looking at 7 day rolling average of vaccination doses, it again becomes very clear that there is a massive vaccination shortage on hand. Clearly the health minister was lying out of his teeth and playing politics when accusing the states of lying about shortage.

Central govt. and state govt. should have the knowledge of what is the capacity of the health infrastructure. Accordingly they should have a plan in place on how to react with rising cases. Anecdotally, I don't believe the official numbers that have been reported from Ahmedabad. Lockdowns work, but they come at a huge cost for the economy. However, we don't have a choice till vaccination coverage is much higher. But it doesn't make sense to do pan India lockdowns.
