Re: A look back at the partition

Surasena ji, Political action should be guided by an inspired sense of creativity and discovery rather than anger, complaining and crying. First go and win the hearts of two Moslems before you demand to be given back two plots of land for demolished brick-and-mortar temples. And how do you propose ...

Re: A look back at the partition

There has to be a comprehensive spiritual, cultural and political movement to re-integrate and forge a new common identity, but one that clearly continues and extends the hoary legacy of the past. The work and mission of the Sikh Gurus, for example, provides a lot of food for thought, though IMHO t...

Re: Historical Battles in Ancient & Medieval Bharat

The author of the above series on Akbar had also posted the following elsewhere: Ishwa, what you said is of course what the reigning Aligarhites (Habib et al) have been repeating as proof of Akbar having remained a committed moslem contrary to the otherwise. Most of what they say is not borne out of...

Re: Historical Battles in Ancient & Medieval Bharat

This lead Akbar to truly understand Hinduism and be more soft than any other Mughal king...In period of akbar conversion softened, every religion was free to practice for anyone....there was tax for visiting hindu religious places...as others were considered kafir's and wrong to practice other reli...

Re: Historical Battles in Ancient & Medieval Bharat

And the concept of conversion to Hinduism was never present in Hinduism. The only Hindu re-conversion efforts were started in the 19th and 20th century by Swami Shraddhanand http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swami_Shraddhanand but this was never an ancient or medieval practice. Wrong. Please check out t...

Yes both are IE languages but not all the words are the same.

Avestan was closer to Sanskrit than modern Farsi.

Anyway don't want to go OT, can discuss in another thread if you have any more questions.

Re: A look back at the partition

Found these posts while searching for something in old posts, unfortunately facts tell a different story. To be fair - SCB should not be singled out for Islamophilia. He must take his fair share of responsibility - but he is only a junior follower in this strategic deviation, initiated by MKG. We k...

Re: Distorted history- Causes, consequences, remedies

Ok, if it is DMK, request you to name them specifically. No point clubbing all woes under broad banner of "secularism". DMK is more like an atheist, casteist outfit. The tendency to paint things with broad brushes does no credit - whether it is calling terror as "saffron" terror...

Re: Distorted history- Causes, consequences, remedies

The resident super secularists of India are the main culprits. For few Takkas they keep seeling their body, soul and whole family. That's a new one :-) blaming secularism for dividing north and south. BTW, is there really any divide at all ? I'm a "northy" living in south and haven't seen...

Re: Distorted history- Causes, consequences, remedies

Any pointers to role of the priests in attempting to unite Indian rulers by forgetting past feuds in the interests of dharma to face invaders ? Akin to role of vatican in uniting various rulers to send armies for crusade? To answer ManishH's question. From a discussion elsewhere: That is right. The...

We can integrate all religions and races except Islam - Lee Kuan Yew In the book, Mr Lee, when asked to assess the progress of multiracialism in Singapore, said: "I have to speak candidly to be of value, but I do not wish to offend the Muslim community. "I think we were progressing very n...

Re: A look back at the partition

X-posted from TSP thread: How-urdu-got-associated-with-muslims-in-India-- written by a Paki IMHO the Persianizing and tearing away of Urdu fro Hindustani was an early example of the implementation of the Two Nation Theory. In an earlier time, there were a number of prominent Muslim poets such as Ra...

It was at this critical juncture in the history of Islam in India that Sir Syed Ahmed stepped forward. “He was a pupil of the famous Mawlãnã a Mamlûk ‘Ali who was entirely a product of the Walî-u’llahî school and tradition. It was perhaps because of this relationship that he claimed to be a Wahhãbî...

IF you happen to go any many schools Christian and go...
