Re: Raffy wins - Go Katrina!

Again the SH was thrown out not because of ITAR or TOT, but because it was "inferior" as an overall package. As things stand, the Rafale "won" and it did so hands down with the EF2K being a close second in terms of performance but a distant second in terms of the price we would'v...

Re: Raffy wins - Go Katrina!

It was a decision based purely on technical and commercial merit and in that order and the SH was "Just not good enough" despite whatever anyone might think, feel or say.

Re: Raffy wins - Go Katrina!

BY TOT they mean they'll enable us to make the aircraft the way they make it. If they source something from US then we would do that too and that would all be in the relevant papers. Further the IAF is a much more competent body than all of us put together. Further more the EF2K is even more depende...

Re: PAK-FA and FGFA Thread

S duct isn't the only way to super stealth as some yankie fanboys would want us to believe, infact the T-50 has the most complex intake duct design that i've seen so far. Maybe it has got something to do with LO but its all speculation now, but i am confident that the russians with their legendary m...

Re: PAK-FA and FGFA Thread

TOT helps you make and maintain/service things without(much) the help of the OEM. Its like HAL/Soviet way of the R&D centre designing stuff and handing it over to the production agency and also make them self sufficient (like having their own DLE/R&D unit). Nothing more nothing less.

Re: PAK-FA and FGFA Thread

PMF/FGFA will have new engines and the avionics will be indian. R&D for engine does not mean that they'll tell us how they arrived at the materials used etc, that's what our engineers/metallurgists have to discover through indigenous research which needs money and time. Everyone knows how an AES...

Re: PAK-FA and FGFA Thread

Just looking at the way an experienced guy handles issues and results of flight and ground testing is worth more than anything else. Technology is present in the form of books and documents, but being able to interpret the data is invaluable. It is here that we need the russians, french or even reti...

I chose 5, for without siachen, the almost insane 6500+ altitude ceiling for our heli's becomes irrelevant and the challenge for indian heli designers wouldn't exist :P

Re: LCA News and Discussions

The LSP-7 and the other unpainted A/C be it composite skin or otherwise are all given a primer coat(Zinc Chromate basically because of its corrosive resistance on metallic parts and for paint adhesiveness on all other parts).
