Re: Indian Space Programme Discussion

LVM3-X1 mission is scheduled for August. Congratulations, ISRO.

PSLV missions have become boring (in a nice way). This is the 24th successive 100% successful mission of the vehicle and the 26th successful mission overall.

Now, on to the same target for the larger launchers.

For driving Hindutva you need 272+ own your own and it will not come from saffron dhotis like us alone. :) You'll have to take in fence sitter on some topics and detox them slowly. So, Hindutva alone will not get you political power. Let's say Modi govt. is a coalition of Hindutva agenda and Vikās ...

Hypergolics are not used on satellites and spaceships, monopropellants are used there (MMH mostly). Hypergolics only have a future in the PSLV, not anywhere else once SC is developed. But as you said ISP boost is the main reason for going the SC route, besides ease of use compared to full cryogenic...

The semi-cryo engine development is not intended as a replacement or substitute for the cryo engine and hence comparing them versus each other is quite meaningless. I think as of now, there are no EVA plans in the ISRO human spaceflight program. (There aren't any concrete plans anyway, but whatever has been revealed envisages placing 2-3 humans in orbit and their safe return to earth with no mention of any EVA).

Is it possible that the Hindu article confused the orbital vehicle launch that is part of the LVM3-X1 mission in April with the SRE-2? I don't remember seeing any official reference (i.e. ISRO statements or attributable comments from ISRO officials) giving dates for SRE-2.
