Re: Sensor capabilities of IAF aircraft

Detection range for naval targets is 150km, not 400km. I don't think you have any idea what you are talking about unless have more information than builder, BR and everyone else of MKI. They all puts its range against naval targets at 400 km thats why brahmos will be carried by MKI bars radar's ran...

Re: Sensor capabilities of IAF aircraft

The Su-30MKI will carry NIIR's N011M X-band Passed Aray Radar with 140km max detection range. Badar think you are getting the stats confused the stats u quoted are for the basic N-011 radar carried by Su-35 while MKI carries the phased array bars radar which has detection range of 300 km and can en...

Re: India's missile defence - Arrow vs. S-300

John, I am not sure but I believe China has ordered land based versions of SA-10 and also ordered for/installed the SA-6-N for its naval vessels. Doubt the chinese have sa-n-6 because lets put this way not even sovremenny size can carry it and also its performance its not even remotly capable as th...

Re: India's missile defence - Arrow vs. S-300

Also installed on ships by Russia and China. India seems to have gone in for lighter Shitil 700kg missile for ships (perhaps depending upon Carrier to provide extended aircover). SA-10 naval version is called SA-N-6 it is only fitted on russian cruisers no chinese vessels have them reason why India...

Re: Klub ASCM and Kilo Upgrades

yeah it is kinda weird it had coast guard colors but it says it is for the navy from the design it seems to be modified version of the trinkat yeah the gun is most likely medak but in the picture it doesn't seem like that because medak is more rounded and bulkier.

could be there is another SSK out there under construction we are not aware of which will be designated as S64. Re: Klub ASCM and Kilo Upgrades

Badar i think you are overestimating capabilities of Harpoon than it is. First of all Harpoon doesn't turn on its active seeker only few km before it arrive at its target. It then homes on to the closest target (not always though). I have never read any thing that suggested the latest harpoon can be...

Re: Klub ASCM and Kilo Upgrades

If a PN vessel is being probed by any radar it will know. Does not matter if it can see the emitter, it will know. actually PN has very little ESM capability, the amazon FFG doesn't have a ESM also the ones in leander frigate are very old and antqiue doubt they are even operational. the brahmos wil...

As for Barak vs Trishul, what is the status of Trishul missile after the test held in early 2002 i haven't a word about it, btw there are already reports that Israel has chosen Barak-2 missile for the next five Eiliat corvetees I assume Barak-2 program was probably funded by IN.

Re: Klub ASCM and Kilo Upgrades

Well i think this closed loop discussion has gotten out of hand :) for all we know IN AK-630 could very well be closed loop. If u recall P16A/Brahmaputra frigate uses TMX-KA as the fire control system for its AK-630 and Oto 76mm which is capable of tracking outgoing shells.

Barak in israel service is actually used as short range missile system but IN will recieve CIWS version of it. Re: Klub ASCM and Kilo Upgrades

whether a CIWS gun system can even get off a shot against missile depends on lot on circumstance, gun placement and AEW capability. If u recall the russian AK-630 uses a director radar so that is one reasons why it doesn't have a closed loop system, kashtan combat module however has its own radar an...

Re: Klub ASCM and Kilo Upgrades

yes new versions of phalanx are capable of handing supersonic ashm but fact remains the velocity of the supersonic ashm is so high that even if they are ripped apart at 300 to 400 meters the debris can still hit their target so 30 mm guns like AK-630 and goalkeeper offer better protection. Also Klub...

TSP's type 21/Amazon frigate is the most sophiscated vessel on their arsenal that said it is more than 25 years old and the air search radar is pretty antique so there is very little chance that vessel could even detect the klub missiles. Re: Production of Arjun tank to start soon

A suggestion,<BR>Indian government should produce light tanks fitted with ATM like the nag instead on trying to produce MBT. In the gulf war the bradleys were very effective and destroyed more tanks than M1A1. Also a MBT will not be well suited for moutainous terrains and bridges. Pakistani tanks ar...
