I don't know if anyone noticed that the new LORA (no pun) missile tested by Israel was infact launched from a cargo ship. Why doesn't the USN use an unmanned version of the S-3? The airframes have a lot of hours left in them, plus it has the required loiter characters and can carry plenty of fuel. As it was designed for CATOBAR ops, so wont require an airframe redesign.

Do we need a pure CAS/air interdiction aircraft? The Tejas isnt designed to be a CAS aircraft either but can perform that role as well, along with the aforementioned aircraft. Mirages did that job for us during the Kargil war.
