How would an LCA/Jag be more survivable than the AMCA? In a SAM/AAA infested environment, I would take my chances with a fast jet than a low and slow A-10, no matter how well-armoured it is. Why doesn't the USN use an unmanned version of the S-3? The airframes have a lot of hours left in them, plus it has the required loiter characters and can carry plenty of fuel. As it was designed for CATOBAR ops, so wont require an airframe redesign.

Do we need a pure CAS/air interdiction aircraft? The Tejas isnt designed to be a CAS aircraft either but can perform that role as well, along with the aforementioned aircraft. Mirages did that job for us during the Kargil war.

Any available ones? AFAIK, Su-30s, MiG-29s, Mirages, Jags all can do it. Plus Rafales in the future.

Brahmos is basically Brahmos ER, right? From what I have read, MTCR prevented anything above 300 km, officially. Most people say that the missile can go to 450 km as is.

According to Shukla's blog, only half (61) of the Jaguar fleet will get the Elta 2052. So the rest will get the 2032? It is also a bit disheartening that the engines havent been upgraded to the F125.

So a bespoke hybrid deal would be somewhat like the Rafale deal for the IAF? It seems on the surface atleast, that the Rafale works out cheaper than the SH. 36 aircraft + support + 50% offsets for 8.85 billion USD vs 40 aircraft + support for 10.1 billion USD?
