You can’t put MiG-27 in the same league as Su-25 or A-10. Just because MiG-27 had some bolt on armor to the side of the cockpit doesn’t make it as survivable as Su-25 and A-10 which were designed from ground up to soak up heavy punishment.

Good observation on the internal fuel between the last two. It had caught my eye too. The final design is 350mm longer and 300mm wider but no extra fuel. Seems unlikely.

Only 200 units order!

Astra Mk.1 already seems to have better specs and performance than all IAF BVR inventory (R-27 (older variants), R-77, MICA-RF, Derby, Super 530D).

IMO, 200 units/year capacity should be built up with large orders 1000-2000 units.

ACM had also mentioned in the recent HT seminar that the squadron strength is stabilizing around 30 units.

More airframes of refurbished Mirage-2000 should be acquired to fully stock up 3-squadrons for the next 15-years. Around 20 airframes.

Import nations tailor their RFI/RFP with a particular favorite in mind ;)

One thing is host country vs foreign country operating environments can be drastically different. Product (like T-90S) designed for Russian cold winters haven’t fared too well in Indian hot desert conditions.
