Conformal radars will be used on future LR UAVs. Maybe, but how far in the future? Are there any planes with conformal radars flying now? But even still, no one is using conformal arrays for AEW aircraft. Yes, the Israeli GF550 based system uses conformal radar arrays http://www.airforce-technology...

Re: LCH and other Helicopters Discussion Thread

LCH also needs 5 bladed rotor, a chin mounted gattling gun and bigger tires. Here we go again. I don't understand this Gatling gun fetish. What's wrong with the 20mm gun it has right now? I could even understand the demand for a 30mm gun. But why gatling? Just because it looks cool. What about it's...

it has been speculated that S-band phalcon radar and L-band emb145 radar could work in concert to id LO targets (I believe L band is better for that...some ships use that like SMART-L) ... until the X-bands of fighters light up for the final strike. Isn't it the other way around - L band on the Pha...

I think you're mixing € and $.. In the french Senate budget for year 2009 the "fly-away" cost for one Rafale C is $82.3 million (http://www.senat.fr/rap/a08-102-5/a08-102-516.html#toc236).. x 36 = ~$3 billion. That does not include ToT, support and maintenance to 2030. I really don't see ...

I hope we just buy a cheap plane like the Mig or the Gripen. I think the fact that the Gripen is similar to the Tejas can be a benefit too. We can probably take some of the tech from a mature fighter like the datalink and use it to upgrade Tejas. Agree wholeheartedly with Gripen and consequent data...
