NEZ for most AMRAAM class datalinked BVR is ~20 miles.

Cost of the BVR is mute as its risks the life of pilot, as well the airframe. If LCA ca carry it, and if it allows it to look first/shoot first, then it should be on it. Didn’t IAF put R-77s on Mig-21s?

I think the question is how many salvos we have to fire to either overwhelm, or exhaust, enemy defenses before they are hit.

All warships have limited magazines onboard, and will be defenseless unless they are replenished. Not sure if SAMs can be reloaded by ship itself.

Form follows function, and aircraft like A-10/Su-25 are purpose built for CAS.

Jaguar is more like Su-24/F-111, tactical strike aircraft.

But future for CAS is UCAS, everything else will fade away quickly.

Yup, their separation when aircraft is already supersonic. Every AAM has launch parameters (max G, speed, altitude, etc) which must match before the launch. Is supersonic speed in acceptable speed range for AAM?
