yes but in a world where woman power is growing , "martial arts" will cease to have the same aura. People will learn it , but less as a cultural thing and more as a means to beat up other people.
On the ohter hand yoga and gyration will do nicely in a more 'liberal' middle class world.

Re: India-China News and Discussions
yes yes many of the kradai group of languages originate from Yunan, and the Thai are a little more "chinese" than the rest.
However han giri could not supplement desi giri in even the most chinese of the Kradai-Tai group.

Re: India-China News and Discussions
As far as the 'Chinese invented everything from the sundial to toilet paper' propaganda trip is concerned- Its a waste of money. Here to, the "strategically sound" chinese have made the foolish mistake of hiring some paid western hacks to propagate the silly notion of the chinese "ori...

Re: India-China News and Discussions
Standard Tibetan script is based on Brahmi. Of course there is plenty of Pali/Sanskrit influence in the religious canon and given that Tantrika was given an exalted status in Tibetan religion, Tibet was always closer to what we call India. However as someone who learnt Thai I can tell you, it is not...

Re: China Military Watch
I don't agree with the 'PLAAF has shot ahead part'. Even with lengthened runways, imported/copied flankers and hardened airbases they still cannot maintain the kind of sortie rate required on the plateau that would really bother the IAF. I am not even going into the fact that those cheap flankers ha...

You know,
I don't quite like this statement by the unkil plenipotentiary:
"We will respect the outcome of the election,”
What the effing is that anyway?

Re: Indian Military Aviation
The Chinese can lengthen their runways on the plateau as much as they like. They still won't be able to permanently base their air force in any meaningful way. The PLAAF will continue to be Kunming centric with respect to this theater.which is why the generals in Myanmar need to be kept in good humo...

Re: India-China News and Discussions
Well to be frank, I understand what you are saying. And it is true that our enemies will advance all kinds of theories to further their "material" claims. But in the final analysis it won't work in their favour at all. I say this because despite the few chicken shits who think Kashmir or A...

Re: India-China News and Discussions
From the above article
So far, Beijing has denied any plans to build a dam on its side of the Brahmaputra river.
Oho so this is the "concession" that was being made to India previously.

Re: India-China News and Discussions
Nevertheless, the Sino-Tibetan family is more or less accepted now. Of course the languages of the plateau are closer to those spoken in Burma but still part of a larger family. The script used is actually a derivative of Brahmi. People in China pretty much knew about what was happening in India.Reme...

Re: India-China News and Discussions
Get that out of the system. I heard that banter twice today evening on 'drawing room chatter'. We did'nt. China is a new neighbour to India. India and the Han never shared a border till 1952. Well not really. Kashi and Khotan have changed hands a few times during Kushan times. Also there is no poin...

Re: India-China News and Discussions
Sundarji had reportedly said in 86-87. "Let them come, this time we will teach them a lesson". All Indians should remember the words of this great man. I say Indians because ultimately the Chinese are scared of public opinion in India. They know that the governing dispensation in New Delhi...

Re: Indian Naval Discussion
Submarine launch of a cruise missile is a noisy affair unless its a swimout like the SS-n-15/16.
So I guess a sub launched brahmos may be a salvo affair.

Re: Indian Military Aviation
See I guess the key standout feature of the A-10 is that gatling gun in the nose.
However modifying the HAwk for that is probably not doable at all.
So the HAWK would have to be happy with wing based rockets etc.
Plus the sensor capability issue of course.

I concur.
Subsonic. limited load out. not much scope for a lot of fancy avionics. sensors constrained by engine power.

X-Posted from the Su-30 thread. Context: Analogy being drawn to transfer of SC blade tech to HAL Koraput for the AL-31FP by the Russians. Okay I have a question. What would the Chinese do/have done in this kind of a situation ( say for any strategic aerospace related tech) and how would the Russians...

Re: Indian Military Aviation
The IL-76MF with a longer body and the PS-90A engines can do 60 tons. Also quieter and there is a FADEC version available as well. I think the IAF may look very closely at short field capability. one of the reasons for the popularity of the C-17 program is the great many more dromes that can take th...

Re: Armoured Vehicles Discussion Thread
Well at least in the case of wheeled tank-destroyers they can genuinely claim that no domestic alternative is available. of course CVRDE and the automotive industry can certainly come up with something. But then it depends on how soon India wants it. India did have those nice wheeled APCs once upon ...
