Re: Dr Chidambaram's talk on Pokharan II
In May 2002, there was a paper in saag.org was Dr Chidmabaram. Seems like the talk was pretty similiar to that. In that paper, there was the Venn diagram , Shiv is talking about. I tried to find the paper on saag but could not locate it.

Re: Indian Road Development
The road between Bhubaneswar to Cuttack is 4 lane and is exactly like US freeways. It is a 30 km stretch and has reduced driving time from over 1 hr to 20-30 mins.

Re: The Road to World Power
Just wanted to add that India is one of a handful of countries which is on track to reducing poverty by half by 2015. China is also one of them. This was in the news recently, most probably in the UNHD report.

It is true that India is not portrayed in favorable light in American media. may...

Re: The Road to World Power
Matthew, I do not have the answers to a lot of the numbers you want to know. My point was to let you know that India is not overspending of defence. Last decade India underspent on defence and is trying to do a bit of catch up now which is pretty normal in the course of most nations.
It is true t...

Re: The Road to World Power
Matthew, do you know how much is India's defence spending as % of GDP? Close to 3%. Why do you think that it is not sustainable?
The second question is why should India's economy fail? Do you have any special reason for that. By that token, China's economy could also fail.
