I think now that we have our own platform and our own missiles are coming, having extra imported missiles in the interim is okay, like hellfire and brimstone. This will allow interoperability of missiles with the existing Apache fleet there is on the western front and also give us a good 20 km range...

If MoD pushes IAF to do the ORCA as the successor to the Rafale and promise IAF that it will buy at least 250 of these, I am sure IAF will get behind it. We are not going to get more Rafales until 8-9 years later. If we go for ORCA, we can get those planes in about 12-13 years because of the common...

I think benG, you already alluded to this earlier regarding why we buy raw materials from Ruskies. It may be required as per the contract, but a lot of it may also be due to processes and weights. Won't we need to redo the whole CG and FCS for MKI and recertify all of it without having the original ...

Re: Transport Aircraft for IAF

It would be wonderful if IAF inducted 20 odd heavily commercial aircraft like 777 or 747 in transport roles. IAF pilots would love it as well, as they would be type trained to fly commercial when they retire, and it would be cheaper and leave the C17 hours for all military equipment only.

AMCA in 2040 will be as much as obsolete as su-30 mki currently is. No MRFA can happen without this LCA order. This order legitimizes more import. They can always point and say, look, we ordered all the Indian products we could, now we need this and that for this and this reason. It makes it easy to order another 4-5 squadrons of Rafales.
