Looking at cross section of a sub given in NDTV pic, could it be 4x2=8 tubes with capacity to store 8x3=25 K-15s. Also the fat missile being fired in very interesting.
Note:- Is that Arihant or some other representative sub?

Power & speed has a relationship of factor of three, i.e. to say power has to increase by power of three for increase in speed.
My guess is that Arihant has a backend of Akula mated to truncated front end of Borei

I don't know why jingoes are obsessed with SSBN thingie, even only as an SSN it is a formidable asset. A submarine has huge amount of reserve bouyancy in form of water, dead weight, air pressure cylinders inside it. Thats why the subs on surface are around 1/4th out of the water. In surfaced situation all its weight is supported by displaced water, and the portion outside the water is part of reserve...

As is obvious that there are two views about Arihant. First that it is modified Charlie Class, say Charlie Class-3 with a compartment/section of 11m inserted in mid body to house 4x3 missiles. Which would make it 6000-6500 tons submerged. The second view is that it is very advanced design even more ...

I was just looking at pics of various modern subs and realised that pure tear drop shape is not a norm. British Astute and even to some degree HDW & Collins have e gently hump on the upper spine. So the Arihant design seems pretty modern and hump may not have been given to adjust the missiles/vls

The specifications of Russian subs have always been a bit of conjucture. I don't think LCA will be dumped as both UCAV & MCA as also perhaps AJT will evolve from it. EJ200 is more advanced as apart from dry weight, things like wet weight and air flow requirement, fuel consumption also govern the "real effect on weight" of aircraft. Both EJ200 and F414 have ...

It is possible that ATV is 12000 tons submerged displacement with under powered reactor. The 80MW reactor would mean that top speed would be around 20kt which would be adequate for operational purposes as beyond that speed the sub makes too much noise and sonars don't work.
