Why not indeed. What is the average utilisation rate of other air forces operating the same type? Any chance of obtaining stats? If we look at Civilian versions of Pilatus, they can put in 1000-2000 hrs per annum. Indian Pilatus is practically a Civilian aircraft with no military role. Hence for 400...

RE:- DRDO QRSAM

Google Chacha seems to indicate that DRDO QRSAM has similar rocket motor like LRSAM. So my guess is that DRDO QRSAM might look like LRSAM ie Barak-2 with a faster propellant coupled with Astra front end. The radar can be derived from Rajendra/CAR/TCR combo or from AESA MMSR.

ALH has a cabin almost the size of S-92 due to ALH advanced design. If we put in 1200-1300kw engines instead of present 1000kw engines, then 8-9ton MTOW helo which will be adequate for 90% of Naval purposes. In the meanwhile we can develop IMRH.

Shiv had pointed out in detailed posts that military has to be "trained" to accept and use indigenous products. I think that 300 years of legacy of getting imported weapons and 70 years legacy of bribes & Agusta partakers will take lot of effort before it goes away.
