Isn't there a difference being 'operational' and 'being inducted'?? SU30MKI became operational in 2004 or earlier, but it is still 'being inducted' in 2007 and will remain 'being inducted' till 2012-13 and even beyond. You may be right. My understanding is that induction is a stage that precedes op...

Folks this is a new vehicle with three stages. We now have second report posted by shyamd. RS, expect him to be there at launch along with some service chiefs. Frankly I would be surprised given that the previous launch was a failure. Maybe they are counting the warhead as a third stage? It would b...

If I am not mistaken, this is the first impression of the new DRDO AWACS (from Jagan's album): http://media.bharat-rakshak.com/aero/main.php?g2_itemId=6178 The AESA radar looks larger than that on the Erieye that Pakistan is acquiring, although that could be an artistic artifact since the aerodynami...

Despite the build quality, the LCH mockup is shaping up in an interesting way and is reminiscent in many ways of the Kawasaki OH-1 Ninja observation helicopter. Interesting that the army isn't financing it.

See if you can explain what "AAD" stands for. Heh heh, that's easy. Let's see, the PAD was a modified Prithvi. What does the AAD look like? Hmm, a modified Akash, with the centre of gravity and fins moved around a bit and some change to the propulsion system unless the usual air intakes h...

My information from my chaiwallha is that - PAD = Prithvi Air defense (Modified Prithvi) AAD = Akash Air defense ( Up-ranged Akash) The project started 5 years back when we didn't even have Barak_1 so speculating that AAD is Barak-II is well oxyM. The AAD doesn't look anything like an Akash, but ha...

The SR-71 grows to three feet longer due to expansion from heat generated by air resistense and I am sure the Foxbat must have experienced somewhat similar metamorphisis. A bit too much :?: A MiG-25 pilot told me several years ago (in 1991 I think) that the top edge of the air intake next to the co...
