If 100 % serviceability can be maintained than 40 mig 29k are enough for both carriers as both have standard complement of 20 mig 29k each and both will be available for only 3.5 years of the 10 years till TEDBF is available.

The mig 29 with the IAF had a crash rate of 0.8 per 10000hr. The mig 29 k have airframe life of 4000 hr. If used for 150 hr /year per aircraft one crash every two years can be expected.

F404/414 have long service life and we will be having 20% spare engine. A short period ban will have no effect. No need to worry. The planners would have already factored in the scenario.
