Re: MBT Arjun - News and Discussions

Wrote this in another thread. At the risk of getting brickbats, IA is right. Reducing weight from 68 to 65t is a pointless exercise. IA wants a T90 weight class tank. Whatever be the reason, that is what they want. So either DRDO redesign Arjun turret & hull in to a 50 tonne machine or take a em...

Re: Armoured Vehicles Discussion Thread - August 9, 2014

For which tanks would Armata be replacement for? T-72?

GOI will ask IA to replace T72 with T90. To get Armata, they have argue T90 is oudated... which leaves IA in a very peculiar situation.

IA can like any tank they want. GOI hold the money bag.

Re: Indian Missiles and Munitions Discussion - June'14

It really does not make sense to have very long range mach 3 cruise vehicle. Instead the planned subsonic cruise + supersonic terminal would be the "long ranged" Brahmos and is the ideal solution. If I have to kill something at 1000km, I would use a ballistic missile. Having said that, any...

Re: Armoured Vehicles Discussion Thread - August 9, 2014

Looks like the focus has now shifted to the Chinese border. So IA wants something in the T90 weight class, specially it is planning an expansion on the Leh border. And it is right, that it will take 5-6 years. So there are three options. 1) Arjun MK2 will be the upgrade option for tanks based in des...

Can't aerostats do the same?? They cannot carry 1-2K ranged radar and it's power requirement. Also comes with the usual issues of aerostat.. winds, maintenance etc. More importantly dont think they can be hooked to float at 18000 feet. On the other hand, in the Kashmir mountains at 15k ft, we can b...

This has a very simple solution.

Every time there is a attack in Kashmir , infiltration or we hunt Paki proxies. there should be a default flattening of Paki post on LOC.

A grenade is thrown, we attack paki post.

A stone is thrown, we attack paki post.

As simple as that.

I hear manpower shortages in ADA when we happily waste 200 million on T-50 with zero output.

Until GOI/IAF massively expands resources on AMCA, this is another wild goose chase by IAF.
