Re: The state of the armor - Indian and Pak tanks

nitin,

Do you have any answers for:

1. Is T-72M1 the only combat Tank variant of the T-72 in India's tank inventory?

2. Do we have any plans of upgarding some T-72s with Kontact-5 ERA?

3. Does anyone have any links on the Karna project?

Thanks :)

Re: Books that cover IAF and its History

MR/Jagan,

Kargil was a bit of a change from our Armed forces PR ineptitude, wouldn't you say?

As far as 65 and 71 goes, our Govt needs to bite the bullet and release some sort of figures - Crashes - location, pilots, etc.

Re: Books that cover IAF and its History

I just finished reading the book: Hawker Hunter: The Operational Record by Robert Jackson It has one full chapter on the Hunter in service in the IAF. However, it has a few mistakes about the 1965 Air action. About Sept 6, 1965 it has a detailed report but fails to name the pilot of the Hunter that ...

2:1 would be feasible only if you assume all of IAF's losses were due to PAF (Air/AAA and on ground)

Re: Arjun – To be or not to be (?)

Mike, You raise some valid points. Nitin, You have cleared up some important aspects of the state of our armour. Now, I have some questions vis a vis our match up before Arjun is deployed. Right now: 1. How do our T-90s compare with their T-80UD (which are their best deployed). Besides wwe'll have 2...

Books that cover IAF and its History

BRites, I'd like to start a thread dedicated to the IAF and its history. Specifically, I'd like to get people's views on good books by Indian and non Indian authors on the History of the IAF. Of special interest is IAF's war record and historical interpretations of it. I do not consider books by Chu...
