Re: Newbie Corner & Military Miscellaneous

Would it make sense for India to acquire AC-130 type gunships for mountain warfare? My take on this is that if provided sufficient aircover, the AC-130 with 105 mm howitzers can pick out targets that are hard to reach for ground based howitzers, also they could stay out of range of potential MANPAD ...

Most likely sub launched Klub or Brahmos. Note yearly schedule. IOW some operational testing. I have seen videos in Youtube of Brahmos punching through a tiny target put up on a wall (metallic target?).. That was _AWESOME_  But we haven't performed any tests of the BrahMos from a sub yet.....

Now the Somali pirates have Indians in their custody for over 6 months now. What is stopping the GoI from pursuing these scumbags and retrieving our citizens? I...

I thought about it too, but the round (if it is a bullet casing) is being ejected on the left side. Normally the round is ejected from the right side only. Or does the Galil eject on the left side? The rifle has a bipod which allows a neat swivel, Im guessing the spent cartridge ricocheted off the ...

Re: PAK-FA and FGFA Thread

well maybe during hard movements the tow cable could snag or break off. OK for big bombers like B52/B1, maybe not so ok for fighters. does any sher khan fighter use towed decoys? The SH seems to use the AN/ALE-55 Fiber-Optic Towed Decoy.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AN/ALE-55_Fiber-Optic_Towed_Decoy

I may be wrong but I believe the dark smudge on ze port side is the APU exhaust onlee. Ze Rafale has it next to its vertical tail fin on ze port side too. Incidentally the Panavia Tornado tails are somewhat blackened too and they seem to have moved ze position of the apu further forward in the EF2k...
